She had her rabies shots about a year ago and as far as i know she hasn't been bitten. But I laid out on the pool deck yesterday and brought her out with me and played with her for a bit and then noticed there was foam at her mouth!!! Is that a sign of dehydration or something? It only happens when I take her out! Is she ok?

That happens when they drool and also, if they got ahold of a frog or toad. And you dont have to induce vomiting like that other girl says. The dog will be fine. Its a toad/frogs defense mechanism. Not fatal at all. It just does not taste good:(

My Dogs Mouth Is Foaming

its most likely not a sign of dehydration. my dog does this all the time when he gets excited. it's really no different than drooling. just out of curiosity, what kind of dog is it? any type of bigger dog tends to have this problem. my great dane is like this. he runs around the yard and comes back with foam all over his mouth and then he shakes and it goes everywhere. the worst is when my little mutt licks it off. YUCK!!

Check if she hasn't bit a frog! That's what happens when a dog bites or licks a frog....give plenty of water with a hose in her mouth and induce vomiting.... call for a veterinarian.

Oops, a she, huh? I was gonna say maybe HE was drooling at you! But I suppose it isn't a stretch to believe lesbian dogs could also exist.

But seriously, I wouldn't worry. My mouth regularly foams whenever I sense a LIBERAL is in the house. And I also DROOL in my sleep.

Dogs pant when they are hot, it is how they cool off. Sometimes when it is extremely hot, they will produce extra slobber, I guess to help with the cooling process. Make sure that you provide plenty of water for your dog, and that she is not overheating outside.

She is thirsty or excited, the type of dog would be helpful, but she just needs water.

she's likely just fine. long as she's got fresh water & is enjoying herself you shouldn't have anything to worry about. with the hot weather I wouldn't let her over do it though... even though she is probably having a ball, a pup can get overheated just like we can.
