As gross as it seems to us, this is something that occurs in the animal world. It is kind of like recycling. An animal eats and then eliminates and some of that food isn't completely digested and it is passed out in their waste. Along comes your dog and likes what he finds in the other animals waste and he eats it and the recycling is completed. This is not a really terrible thing but parasites can be passed along this way. There is a product called "Deter" or another from the Vet called "Forbid" that sometimes helps stop the dog from eating his own stool but will not help with other animals stools. Keep a sharp eye on him when he is out and correct the behavior before he can ingest things he shouldn't.
Good luck with this, it can be a hard behavior to correct.

Cheap dog and cat food. People that feed cheap food are feed the grass, it runs right through the animals and other animals find it and can still smell food in it, then they eat it.
You should also teach your dog not to eat it, because that is the easiest way for your dog to get tape worms.

I don't know. Mine does. We have to put up a gate in front of the basement stairs so he won't go downstairs and eat out of the cat litterbox. X-P
Some dogs will eat ANYTHING.

My friend's dog did this and the vet said it was some sort of deficiency. He suggested feeding the dog grated apples and carrots. It worked!
