Cats - December 2007

We got my daughter a kitten about 5 mos ago. We didn't realise he was going to be bigger than our yorkie. He constantly attatckes her... he knows it wrong, when I see him stalking her I'll yell at him and he sometimes stops. Also, when I catch him doing it, all I have to do is look at him and he takes off to his hiding spot. My question is, how can I get the cat to stop? He's a big guy and my poor little dog has to live in fear. Oh, he also attackes the kids and has broken numerous christmas bulbs off the tree! Don't say get rid of him, that is a very last resort, I like him... he's cool, but a big bully. :)

My cat has seen at least 3 different vets because of her habit with barfing. She's a normal cat, no other problems, and no one has yet to find anything wrong. Her current vet said that her blood is the healthiest he's seen in a while. But she throws up about twice a week on average, sometimes more than that. She's up to date with shots, is an indoor cat, has had no "stressors" (in fact we took a stressor AWAY from her - another cat that fought with her a lot), she's the only pet in the house and she likes it that way. I just don't understand why she throws up so much? It's almost always just food, its NOT hair so please don't give me the hair ball speech. We've adjusted her food several times....you name it, we've done it. Is there anything else we HAVENT considered?

He is about 16 weeks old. Currently we are refilling his dish like 3 times a day (he eats a 3# bag a week) and he gets tuna juice on his dish at least 3 times a week and a pouch of wet food nearly every day... We have had him for almost two months and he has tripled in size.. he isn't fat (in fact he is very lean and LONG) Is he just going to be a big cat? When should I worry that I am feeding him too much? When do you know that a cat is fat?

She has a collar on and its not working. I have another cat who I checked and he doesn't have them yet and I don't want him to.

My dad said trying to bathe her is dangerous (since she's about 4 months old) so how do I get rid of them?

and how will the bunny react to the cats? I have two cats at home, one is 9 years old and one is 10. they are both still in great shape, and one of them goes outside a lot and hunts. I don't think they have ever seen a bunny before, but I am bringing my pet bunny home from school. He is a dwarf bunny and is only a couple years old. How do you think my cats and bunny will react?

The cat has been growling, hissing, and then running away from my daughter and my husband. My husband wants the cat gone. I've had her for so long and just feel like she will be put to sleep if given away mainly for her aggressive tendencies. Is she just getting old and crabby or what? I don't want to wait until she bites or scratches my daughter.

We have tried everything from locking him in the bathroom with the box all day to using the spray bottle to stop him when he tries going on the carpet.

There is a stray/semi-feral (I'm not sure) who has lived around my apartment for 3 years (according to others). I just moved here in August and at first he wouldn't let me touch him, but gradually he's let me pet him and scratch him and even hold him twice. For the past week, he's jumped into my lap while I was in a chair outside and after he got comfortable he fell asleep there. He's the sweetest thing and I feed him daily and pet him daily several times. He is very fond of me and vice versa. My first step would be taking him to the vet, of course, but I'd really like to adopt him. The only problems are 1) I have a very spoiled indoor cat named Fancy (she) that I've had for almost 2 years and she's seen Shadow (stray) through screen door a few times and just looked at him (swatted at him on 5th time of contact through screen door) and then she's been mad at me after she smells him on me. I am afraid they won't get along and my cat will hate me. Has anyone ever been in this situation?

I've already got 2 older cats but was too young to understand at the time, how much pain are they in after they come home from being neutered? I don't think the vet gave them any pain medicine, but surely if a human went in to have their bits removed they'd need some pain relief? Thanks

We recently got a white long-haired cat, and it was doing fine for the first 2 months, and then it started shedding a lot, and there is two bald patches on the cat, one on its neck, and one behind its ear. It has also started to vomit, but it has only vomited twice. What could this be?

There are 2 cats that belong to my neighbor & they do not feed them. They believe that cats are natural born hunters & should not depend on humans for food. Therefore the cats depend on ripping up my trash bags to find their food. I will not put out food for these cats because they are very destructive - including shredding the screens in my windows. I complained to the neighbors but once there was damage they no longer claim the cats. We do not have a shelter to take the cats to, I can not kill the things, and can not complain to the local sheriff because his solution for any animal problem is to shoot the thing. The only type of humane society we have is for dogs only. I hate the thought of catching the cats and then carrying them off somewhere else because they will just cause damage to someone else's property. Any suggestions?
