Just feed your cat on the counter. Dog and cat foods differ in a lot of ways and are species specific. Although a little won't harm her, she can't live a healthy life on cat food.

Cat food is formulated for cats, who have different nutritional needs so the vitamins and minerals will be wrong for the dog. The protein levels are also much higher, which often is why dogs throw up or get the runs when they eat cat food.

Feed the dog dog food, put the cat's food up where the dog can't reach it. You'll have less stomach digestive upsets that way and less mess to clean up.

It isn't bad for her, but it isn't good for her. If she is s puppy (1yr or less) then she NEEDS to eat puppy food because it gives her the amount of calories she needs as a puppy. I am no vet, and there is a reason cats and dogs have different foods so I suggest putting the cat food on a pedastel or something out of the dogs reach that a cat can still jump up to, or you can correct the bad behavior (eating the cat food in this case) by removing the dog from the food whenever she advances toward it and placing her next to her food.

My mother did this. It cost us $2500 for our dog to get bladder surgery to have the stones removed. So STOP the habit now. Remove the cat food to the counter or another room and just feed the dog when it gets hungry it will eat.

IT is TOOO high in protein for dogs. Compare the protein on the two bags. Too high protein in dogs can cause KIDNEY FAILURE.
So, if you do not care about your dogs kidney function, go ahead and feed it cat food.
