Why don't you take him to get his shots right now? It's best to protect your cat and your boyfriend's cat! Just arrange an appointment for a shot, it's not a big deal!

don't worry, your cat will be fine. I have 4 cats, and 9 dogs right now, and I do not vaccinate. The side effects that come with vaccines are exactly what we are trying to prevent, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and even aggressiveness. Plus, there is no proof they need yearly shots. Humans don't get shots past their baby shots, why should our pets?
Most of what they vaccinate for, the various viruses (wow, alliteration......) have grown resistant to. Vaccines only cover maybe 2 of the 10 or more strains of each virus. You would be needlessly injecting your pets with toxins.
If your cat is otherwise healthy, and has a good diet, it will be fine.

hes definitely over due for his first set of vaccines. he needs his distemper and feline leukemia shot. kittens are especially vulnerable to diseases. i work in a vet office i know. vaccines are relatively inexpensive. but in the first few months he will need boosters and then after that it will just be once a year.
