Our cat is sick. He is an 80% outdoor cat, he hates to stay in. But we have been keeping him in, he has been sick for over 2 weeks. He has no shots except for his rabies. He has a bad cold and is getting our other animals sick. My dad being the idiot that he is, is too lazy to bring him to the vet and is giving him VetRx for sheep. Is that a good idea. I told him it wasn't and to bring him to the vet, we have the money, that is not the issue.

If a cat is locked in a basement room by itself, with nothing but a litterbox, a bed and food & water, never having interaction with anyone, will it die sooner? Is it better to have it put to sleep in this situation, when you know that no one else wants the cat? Or should it just be let outside?

I'm looking after someones cat, but finds that he really smells he cleans himself but not properly, i've cleaned his eyes with wet wipes and just doing that ends in blood shed. What would be the most easy way?

And I've noticed she has quite large hard lumps underneath (not directly underneath, but a little lower than) her nipples. Is this normal?

He pees in his box, but will almost never do anything else there. I have to clean up after him daily. I have asked everyone I know who has cats for help; now I am asking the masses.

One of my friends is getting rid of kittens, and I really want them. I already have outside cats that they could stay with, and we have PLENTY of room for them. My problem is getting them here however. My friend said his mom wanted to know if my parents would let me have them, and I didn't exactly ask them..but we've gotten stray cats every year, and i could use a cover up story that I thought they were my neighbor's cats (they always have cats...) My only problem with that is if my friend's mom calls to ask if my parents said yes, then I'm crap outta luck... So I need some QUICK advice replies to see what you think I should do, I'd really appreciate it. Also, don't bother telling me to just forget it all, because I'm determined to try it.. We've already gotten 2 stray cats this year, plus I think my 8 year old cat just died this past week(or she ran off for a few days atleast) and my other cat lost her 1st litter last spring.. We get stray cats every year so its not a big surprise...

i give my cat food whenever i see the food bowl is empty. means i just simply refill. but i don't know how much i should really give. sometimes after they bowl is empty, they keep asking for more in the next 2 or 3 hours. i don't know they are still hungry or just over-pampered. my cats range from 8 months-3 years old.

i alternate between iams, purina, whiskas or any good food i find in the pet shop or recommended by the vet.

what about you?

do you feed your cat according to time like morning, afternoon, etc or just simply put it whenever they are asking. how much do you usually put?

So, kitty snuck out of the house and came back with fleas. After posting a question on answers, I went to the vet and they gave me Capstar, which was supposed to kill the little buggers within 30 minutes and then Promeris, which is a preventative medicine lik Revolution that goes on her skin to prevent reinfection. Neither worked...kitty still has fleas and the are getting worse since I can see them hopping around. I was thinking about bombing the house, but I am five months pregnant and nervous about doing so. The hubby is frustrated. He hates kitty to begin with and wants to try Heartz products (flea bath/flea drops), but I am nervous about doing that because I have read a lot of horror stories about their products. Have you used a medicine that actually worked? Do you know of any "natural" remedies to get the fleas out of the house? I know they lay eggs and whatnot. I have vacuumed, dusted, and sprayed orange essential oil (read somewhere that might help), but no luck.

I found 2 small kittens huddled together under a gutter downspout in my back yard. It seems they have no mother, they are shivering cold, and I don't know how long they have been there. Its 38F outside and will be dark in about an hour. One of them is friendly: he let us pick him up and we brought him in the garage and gave him a nice warm blanket and some water. The other hisses and bats his paw at us whenever we approach, and is even more defensive now that his brother is gone. What should we do? Should we take both kittens in, or leave them outside together, or just leave the one? I think it is bad to keep them separated but at the same time I am terrified that they will freeze to death overnight. Please help!

I've had her since she was a kitten. She's about 8 months old now. I've tried everything to train her, spray bottle, 'no' word, etc. The only thing I've found that works is putting her in the bedroom for a couple minutess to clam her down. I'm super worried because she caught fire today. I was there to blow her out before she got burnt luckily. I can't keep her off the kitchen table! I'm home most of the day to watch her, but she's a pain sometimes (a cute cuddle pain, albeit).

I have kitten 31/ 2 month old and i want to feed her vegetarian food (Eggs no probz). So what shall i be feeding her and how.... (Home-Made).

Also, provide a link if theres an interesting article or receipe

PS: She only eat biscuits at the moment and drinks milk (Half water+ half milk proportion). She dont eat kitten formula or anything....... She is stupidly picky!!! so she wont eat 9 out of 10 items inspite of repeated attempts....

I am a first time siamese cat owner. This may seem silly....sorry in advance. Prefer answers from siamese owners or w/ cats who have similar fur....

Do they get cold (chilled) easily? I always see her sitting near the heating vents or she will always want to cudle by burrowing under the covers and sleep in the crook of my legs. She will also sleep w/ the white dom short hair we have. It's obvious the short hair has denser thicker hair (she is not a long hair) and the siamese hair is finer.

Just curious b/c I everything I have read on Siamese behavior doesn't really mention this. So I was wondering too if there are things to buy her to keep her warmer....like a kitty sweater...would that be silly????

So, i adopted two kittens from the RSPCA.
They're from the same litter and are brothers.
The thing is, one of them (morris) wasj poorly so stayed at the RSPCA for an extra 2 weeks, when the other (Bo) was allowed home with us so.
So, Bo has had our undivided attention for the past 2 weeks thinking all his toys are his and the house is his etc.
Today we bring Morris home...and they HATE each other.
When they were at the RSPCA, they were kept in seperate cages...so i don't think they know each other.

There's another problem.
They're both 10wks old but Bo is a bigger kitten, at least twice the size. I think Morris must have been the runt of the litter because he is tiny.
So everytime Bo sees Morris, his backs raised and he attack him with his claws and Morris is frightened of him.
Since we brought Morris home (about 6 or 8 hrs ago) Bo has not been playing..right now Bo is chasing Morris around the room!
