So, i adopted two kittens from the RSPCA.
They're from the same litter and are brothers.
The thing is, one of them (morris) wasj poorly so stayed at the RSPCA for an extra 2 weeks, when the other (Bo) was allowed home with us so.
So, Bo has had our undivided attention for the past 2 weeks thinking all his toys are his and the house is his etc.
Today we bring Morris home...and they HATE each other.
When they were at the RSPCA, they were kept in seperate cages...so i don't think they know each other.
There's another problem.
They're both 10wks old but Bo is a bigger kitten, at least twice the size. I think Morris must have been the runt of the litter because he is tiny.
So everytime Bo sees Morris, his backs raised and he attack him with his claws and Morris is frightened of him.
Since we brought Morris home (about 6 or 8 hrs ago) Bo has not been playing..right now Bo is chasing Morris around the room!

Morris keeps hiding and Bo just waits to attack!
I love Bo loads and i don't want him to think we're giving Morris the attention!
Which we're not we're playing and treating them equal.
But when i pick Morris up in my arms, he doesn't want to let go of me incase Bo attacks him!
I don't know what to do?!

I thought it might be play fighting myself at first but both their backs are raised really high and Bo hisses at him, so i don't think they're playing.

Hey, I understand- you don't want somebody to get hurt. I have to tell you, though, don't panic! I have a 12 year old and got 2 kittens. She hates the other girl, so they ignore each other and occasionally fight. But when they first came she was trying to kill the kittens- it was pretty scary. I separated them, did the whole towel/smell change thing and things calmed down. She now loves the little boy- they chase each other, but it's clearly play since nobody hisses or anything. They just run one way, then turn and run the other.
So, this gets better. It's too short a time to get worried. Keep watching them. Also, consider putting each in a carrier, put the carriers close together and let them hiss this out in a safe way. That's how I did it the first time with my 12 year old when she was 2 and she and Phoebe were best of friends (til Phoebe died of cancer).
Go buy more stuff so all the stuff in the house doesn't smell like Bo. Good luck, you sound so sweet!

don't worry, they will work it out. right now it's bo's house. morris is an intruder. not only is he an intruder but he smells like the vet (other cats and dogs). Cats that live together will even fight when 1 goes to the vet.
when you get a new job and go into an office with people that have worked there for a while you are kind of invading their turf. the same with cats. then need to establish the pecking order. It may take a week, it may take a month, but it'll be fine sooner or later. Ensure you pay equal attention to both and eventually they will be sleeping together like brothers.

6-8 hrs isn't a long time, but there's another thing you can TRY........take a fluffy towel.....rub it ALL OVER (under tail, etc) Bo, then take the towel into another room (with Morris) and rub it ALL OVER him! This way, when they get back together, Bo's smell will be all over Morris and he won't seem like such a stranger! It can't hurt, and it might help. This also works when introducing orphan kittens to a "mama" cat. She's more likely to think that they're hers, and "adopt" them. Good luck........................

Mama needs to take a chill pill for a while. They will (kittys) work it out. As young as they are, every thing should be just fine with in a couple of days. Maybe less. Kittens love to play, & they will end up playing with each other. Don't try to force them to be friends, maybe ignore the bad behavior, & see how it goes.
Good Luck!

i would calm Bo down, and stroke them both, one at a time, that'll make them get familiar with each other's smell, it'll also show Bo that Morris is also important and Bo shouldn't be the boss of the house.

Maybe you are witnessing "Play Fighting?" Kittens learn through play and all of my kittens (siblings or not) would chase each other from time to time and swat at each other. The next minute, they would be curling up against one another to nap.

Lock them in a room together and get a bunch of friend to watch and place bets.
No seriously though, they will get used to each other eventually. Just let them hash it out. Don't let the bigger one hurt the little one too much but you have to let them settle it on their own or you'll just drive yourself crazy.

Don't get too excited about it right now. It will take time for them to adjust and you will have to monitor their interactions for a while and protect Morris from his bully brother.

Don't worry. They are fighting, which is normal. They will eventually calm down. Give them a few weeks. They will fight more and there will be tussles and hissing and clawing. Unless they draw blood, don't be worried.

I think that when the one cat went away for a few weeks his smell changed, so when they were reintroduced its the different smells that made them fight.
I was advised by my vet to brush some talc into both there furs so they smell the same....try it out..it works...good luck..dont worry :)
