I have had three kittens spayed in the last couple of months. No pain medication for any. Kittens are quite 'durable', and bounce back fairly quickly. I suspect your vet has offered pain medication as an extra cost item, and it really has more benefit for you than for your kitten. If you are really concerned, you can put forth the suggestion of pain medication only if it seems really necessary, and most vets will honor that wish. Ever wonder why a spay can run from $75 to $250? It all has to do with the extras offered, and for some, it is not for the benefit of the kitten.

Your kitten will be a bit under the weather for a day or so after the operation, but that is because it is major surgery, and anesthesia is used. But it has the benefit of slowing them down for the period right after the surgery.

Your vet will probably tell you to keep the kitten from going up stairs, jumping on furniture, etc. Have a good laugh, and realize they self-regulate quite well.

I would go with what the vet recommends. One of my cats had no pain at all after her spay surgery. She came out of the anesthetic fine & the vet didn't even send any pain medicine home with her.

The younger & much smaller cat had a more difficult time of it. The vet said she didn't come out of the anesthetic as fast & she moved very slowly for the first day. I gave her the pain medicine the first night & again the next morning. After about 36 hours, she was fine.

Morphine cannot be given to cats as a painkiller. It causes manic behaviour, which is the last thing you want in a kitten who has just had surgery.

The vet is the best placed person to advise you on safe pain relief for your kitten if necessary.

Niether, a little pain has a purpose, you don't want her exerting herself and breaking the sutures. If you think that is cruel and are wondering if I would do the same, the answer is yes. I have never given my pets pain relief after surgery, and I myself did not take pain relief after surgery, it hurts a bit but it helps maintain limitations.

it fairly is in no way befell with me earlier and that i've got had all of my cats spayed or neutered. and all of my canines that weren't especially used as breeding inventory for practice. you have made a robust determination. Your animal won't pass directly to create generations of undesirable cats that finally end up residing short depressing lives. till you have stunning specimens of a particular cat breed that are astounding and fairly worth breeding, it fairly is the suitable concern to do. maximum practice breeders spay or neuter maximum folk of their kittens or require the hot vendors to realize this by ability of settlement to maintain this from happening. there's no longer a huge industry for kittens available. I as quickly as took in a pregnant stray cat. between my vet, my sister-in-regulation, my acquaintances, and me, we discovered precisely one abode for between the flair kittens, so I had her spayed whilst she replaced into pregnant. She replaced into wearing a huge muddle--seven. that could have been six kittens positioned down from that muddle, plus one extra from yet another cat's muddle that did no longer have a place to pass because of the fact somebody who wanted a kitten took a kitten from mine. There are too many cats precise now era. for each kitten that nicely-knownshows a house, numerous extra do no longer. In our community we've trapped and had feral cats humanely euthanized because of the fact they're everywhere and detrimental and packed with fleas and illnesses and breeding like wildfire. Of 30+ caught interior the previous summer precisely 2 did no longer have pussycat leukemia. purely one replaced into youthful sufficient to evolve to residing with people. So, as I stated, you're making a clever determination by ability of spaying your kitten. Do you hate your mom and father for having you get your adolescence photos? You probably do no longer submit to in suggestions maximum of those reviews. A cat isn't any distinctive. once I have been given mine abode as quickly as they have been spayed/;neutered they acted kinda sleepy for the 1st day and went precise back to being their customary goofy selves. they could act extraordinary for an afternoon or so by using strain yet they do no longer hate you. and you're doing them a prefer. "mounted" cats stay longer in many cases. One nighttime of being extremely hungry won't outweigh the advantages on your cat and people who she could have in any different case created.
