I've had her since she was a kitten. She's about 8 months old now. I've tried everything to train her, spray bottle, 'no' word, etc. The only thing I've found that works is putting her in the bedroom for a couple minutess to clam her down. I'm super worried because she caught fire today. I was there to blow her out before she got burnt luckily. I can't keep her off the kitchen table! I'm home most of the day to watch her, but she's a pain sometimes (a cute cuddle pain, albeit).

there are many good cat books out there (see amazon.com for one site, click on books for traintng cats). see what your local library has on the subject.

asking questions here is a very good move. sometimes others have the same problem as you and they come up with novel ideas that actually work.

i have several cats and i find that some behavior you just have to live with (like walking on my keyboard). cats are very independent and expect you to live in THEIR world.

by the way, how did she catch on fire? cat proof your house just like you would child proof it. accidents happen but remove temptation.

take good care of your best friend and she will reward you with many years of pleasure.

I have heard of people putting packaging tape sticky side up on the surface they don't want their cat to get on. I have also heard of putting aluminum foil down, too. With the tape it sticks to their feet, and cats absolutely HATE that (put a piece of scotch tape on her foot and you'll see what I mean). With the foil, it makes a strange noise and scares the you-know-what out of them. However, I have never tried these things myself; luckily I have two really awesome cats. :)

I know what you mean, but cats are very strong willed and they are climbers. Your best defense if a good offense. Cat proff your house. Remove or hind anything that could be a problem. When she get older you can redecorate.

Dogs say she loves and feeds me...she must be God.

Then learn to live with it, if swating her off the table and yelling no doesn't work...how the hell did she catch fire? Don't tell me..you put her in your bedroom with a lighted candle!!
Brillant!!!
