I am a first time siamese cat owner. This may seem silly....sorry in advance. Prefer answers from siamese owners or w/ cats who have similar fur....
Do they get cold (chilled) easily? I always see her sitting near the heating vents or she will always want to cudle by burrowing under the covers and sleep in the crook of my legs. She will also sleep w/ the white dom short hair we have. It's obvious the short hair has denser thicker hair (she is not a long hair) and the siamese hair is finer.
Just curious b/c I everything I have read on Siamese behavior doesn't really mention this. So I was wondering too if there are things to buy her to keep her warmer....like a kitty sweater...would that be silly????

Love the stories you guys are telling about your meezers...mine does the sames things your kitties do. I am finding they have much more personality than "regular" cats. I absolutely love her. I have many more years w/ her since she is not quite 2 yrs yet. I was pretty surprised that their life expactency is quite long.
I don't think I will get her the sweater...I liked the heating pad idea.

i have had siamese cats forever. yes they do get colder than other kinds of cats whitch usually have longer hair.
mine like to sit on the furnace grate (hard to heat the house this way), sleep with each other (share body heat), in a warm sunny window, or with me.
their favorite place to be (sleep) is in a large cardboard box with a top on it and a heating pad inside. my heating pad has a warming setting and shuts off after 2 hours. they will spend many hours in there (my house is cold in the winter).
do not use the pad if the cord is in any way damaged!!! this can burn your cats or cause a fire and burn down your house (not recommended).lol
an aside, good luck in getting your siames to wear a sweater. i would pay to see that.

I've had several Siamese and they all love heating vents and heating pads and burrowing under blankets, sheets, & throws.
Mine even loves jumping in the bed while I'm try to change the bedclothes. She jumps under the fitted sheets, then crawls out, gets on top, waits for the flat sheet, then the blanket or comforter or throw and the pillows.
They (the Siamese) just love feeling comfortable - why shouldn't they ? They're considered the royalty of the cat world.
As for the kitty sweater, I wouldn't do it unless your cat likes to be dressed up and most cats don't.

Siamese are cold natured cats. They are missing an under-layer of fur which keeps them warm. This is also one of the reason people are less allergic to them. They get their points where they are coldest. If you can talk your cat into a sweater then you are better than I am. I couldn't get either one of mine to do that. My last little girl slept under the covers in the crook of my legs also. The two I have now curl up together on top of me.
Enjoy your 'Meezer. They are best little fur children to have.

If she'll wear it, go ahead.
I've had two cover burrowers... I think it's very cute :-). One of ours right now likes to climb through the vent hole on the back of the entertainment center to lie ontop of the DVR box (it gets very warm). He sleeps there all day.
It is possible that the short hair may keep them cooler, but I wouldn't be concerned. It's more likely that they just enjoy the heat/warmth like any other cat sleeping on a window sill.
Enjoy your Meezer (aka froot bat)... they have very unique personalities and -at least we found- that once we had one we never wanted another kind of cat.

properly I truthfully have a tabby so it is remark** Tabby* -rather Playful -candy -Very lively -have a tendency to proceed to be energetic & Playful -some could properly be lap cats, relies upon on the temper their in (: Siamese* some motives to possess a Siamese cat as a puppy is they're very loving and affectionate, in many circumstances defined as extroverts for displaying their emotions and satisfaction in human organization. yet, they're in many circumstances illustrated as evil and aggressive. that may no longer entirely incorrect, via fact some Siamese cats are very no longer uncomplicated to deal with. There are circumstances while Siamese cats are so delicate that they won't be able to adapt to human organization, consequently behaving aggressively. this may well be a significant disadvantage to possessing a Siamese cat. <--Copied that for you :)

I don't think they get cold easy, I think they're just really cuddly. My siamese kitten likes to sleep on my neck or my chest. He also likes to play under the blanket. He can be under the blanket for almost 10 minutes, just playing with his toy. But he doesn't hang out around heating vents like yours.
I would buy the kitty sweater, just becoz she would look cute in it. Lol

they have short thin hair, i know, but as long as YOU are not cold, they probably aren't either. i think all cats like to sit on radiators or heating vents and just snuggle because its cozy. if your cat starts sneezing or coughing, then he may have a cold or respritory infection and there is a problem. but for now, sounds like your cat just wants a nice place to cuddle and snooze.
kitty sweaters= not a good idea for meezers, in my experience. they have this weird fetish with wool and sheeps wool so they'll try to chew it and eat it; like if you get one of those beds made of sheeps wool, they wont sleep in it, theyll just use it as a chew toy. so your cat may try to eat a sweater instead of enjoying it.
get her a flat bed to put on top of the heating vent, or a big fluffy bed and blanket.

My kitty loves to sit by the heater and is always trying to cuddle with one of the family members.. The older they get the more they do it.
Extra info: if you have problems with flea collars. Use garlic power in their food. And if you add an egg to it . It will help with their fur. No need of a sweater.

They DO like their heat, but you can make do with a soft towel folded and put on the couch, or a peice of fake sheepskin that reflects the heat (or those 'cuddle' blankets). During winter they glom onto those and stay toasty.
