My female cat is 7 years old. She is healthy, and active. She sometimes is allowed outside (private property). Just today I noticed her gums are so swelled she can barely close her mouth. This hasn't been an ongoing problem, and I have never seen anything like it. The gums are not red or bleeding but a whitish-pink like you would expect. It makes it seem she has only the 2 front upper and lower teach, when I know there are more in the back, I guess hidden. The vet appt. isn't until a couple days, so what can I do in the meantime? I have all ready swithced her to wet food so she can eat.

Is the cat in any pain and what is the cause?

(PS: She is cranky, but normally is)

I have 2 cats-Lucky (3 yrs old black cat) and Precious (2 year old half simese (spelling) cat)
1. Lucky throws up his food a little to much-we are feeding them INDOOR Cat food since they both eat out of the same food bowl (its the one that has two side by side-if i put two seperate bowels out they just eat out of the same one)-WHY does she throw up? he has ruined my carpet in two rooms!

We have it in the basement closet with a little kitty door. we use two pans so that it doesn't get so full. and we use small spaces kitty litter and we TRY to empty it every other day..any tips on how to keep the smell down?
3. kitty hair-how to get it off my coach, out of our clothes.. feels like its everywear!!!! help!!!

I have a cat that's a bit of a 'litter flinger' when he digs. Normally it's not a problem as I have an enclosed litter box for him. But he got into my other cat's non-enclosed litter box and flung a little. Then it accidentally got wet (just water) before I could get it vacuumed up. Does anyone know of an effective way to get it out of the carpet without making a worse mess? Advice appreciated... thanks!

I can feel my cat Smudge's hip bones through her short fur, but she seems to not be stiff or anything like that. However, my cat's hip bones are becoming more and more prominently felt whenever I pet her and Smudge is a 14 year old shorthaired cat who's going to be 15 in June of this year. She doesn't seem to be in any pain when she's petted, but I'm concerned that her hip bones becoming more and more easily prominently felt may be a sign of arthritis. Is this reason enough for my concern for my cat? Smudge's eating okay and also doesn't seem to be losing any weight lately, but she's 8 pounds, which is the proper weight for a cat her size, according to the vet.

We have a cat who is about 2 years old. Just recently she started being "naughty". She's been pooping on the carpet in the basement (this is the only place in the house we have carpet at all). We have another cat who is male and is 11 years old. We haven't caught him doing this yet - we're pretty sure it's just Emmie. We bought a second litter box (the enclosed type with the opening for the cats to go through) and put it in the area she had been "soiling". It didn't work. We have always used "Tidy Cats for Multiple Cats" and we've always had the enclosed boxes. What could be causing her to do this now all of a sudden? I'm pregnant and supposed to stay away from cat feces. When possible I plan on ripping that carpet out - but in the meantime, until I can do it, what else is there to do? My other cat is allergic to clumping litter - so that's not an option since he uses both boxes now that we have 2. Also the boxes are kept very clean. Help please!

When being petted, my cat will often start swishing his tail like mad. Big, fast, back and forth swishes. And he'll purr and head butt and generally be a big sweet heart.

But I've always heard that vigorous tail swishing means the cat is angry or very irritated.

Is this always true?

Does anyone else own a cat who "waggs" its tail when happy?

...and if it is something else, what other conditions could it be?

He is a 2 1/2 years old Abyssinian. no other cats around, indoor only. We went to the vet today, and she felt a "growth" whether its a enlarged lymph node or a pocket of fluid i dont know. He also has fluid buildup in the lungs and stomach area. We only had an x-ray done.

I have read many things about this, since my revelation of this condition at the vet today. Including that its nigh impossible to diagnose and that its mis-diagnosed frequently.

In all of my readings i havent found anything that indicates a "growth" in the abdomen when citing symptoms of FIP.

He's not doing too bad right now, i took him home and wanted to research this. his breathing labored, but i dont want him to go on like this too long.

So again, my question is, given these symptoms, what else could it be if NOT FIP?

I am getting a male, what do I look for to find my perfect pup. From
pictures I have seen of them sleeping one male seems to be sleeping a
bit away from the group while the other is sleeping on one of the
girls. I like the one sleeping on the girls but anyone know how I can
choose?

Since it would be in another state. The only way I can see it before it is delivered is by pictures

On his last visit to the vet, my cat (Gimano) weighed in at 12 pounds. I think that is a little too much for a 1 year old. Gimano is a California Spangled mix. Cats of that breed have an average weight of 9-18 pounds, but I still would like him to lose weight. We tried putting him on a diet plan for animals, but he still remains the same on the scale. Any suggestions?

Whenever my adorable kitty is looking out the window at birds she freaks out and starts cackling. Do you know what I am talking about? She opens her mouth like she is going to meow, but instead it is a voiceless noise that emits... What is this called?

About a week after my kitten had his 12 week vaccination (indoor only vaccination set, so no rabies or FeLV), he developed an upper respiratory infection and eye infection, which went away after about a week with vet prescribed eye ointment being used. Last week, he got his 16 week vaccinations, and he appears to again be coming down with a URI and eye infection, and if it gets any worse he will have to go back to the vet tomorrow. Why does this happen? Aren't vaccinations supposed to prevent, not cause illness?

OK! these guys have been hanging around the house on and off for the past month or so. They are skiddish, but tame. So I've decided to keep them, and everyone agreed tonight that we would bring them in. So how do I get my other 3 cats to be ok with this? Frisky my lifelong pal is the one i'm worried about most. He has adapted to the other 2 cats quiet well. Most importantly I hear growling in the pet taxi i have them in. Should I just put them back outside, and let them be free roam or what? By the way I have room for them we have a 4 bedroom 2 full bath 2 story house.

I asked another question similar to this and you can look at it and answer it if you'd like but anyway, to reply to the answers of posters in my other question no my cat did not get into anti-freeze and no he does not have cancer. He just simply won't eat. He was given fluids at the vet and his last bag of fluids was given on Monday. We have also tried giving him baby food, tuna, turkey, cheese, and canned cat food and he won't even smell the food so I'm not sure if its possible but I think he can't smell anything which makes him not want to eat. Is this possible and what do I do? and also the question above, How long will a Cat live without eating? Any help is appreciated!
