Each one of my cats has very unique names based either on personality or on the situation they came into our lives. Cupid is named that way because he's a love-muffin male cat and is an orange tabby. Vixen, a buff/white female, got her name because of the way she looks so innocent but underneath is sneaky and sly. And Miracle, a calico female, got her name because of a late-night rescue in the rain where it was a miracle we found her and an even bigger miracle she came back to life after being separated from her mommy-cat for 2 days straight at only 9 days old, lying in a mud puddle soaked to the skin, and sucking on mud and water for nourishment.

Previously I had one named Gambit, a male black cat named after the X-Men character, because he loved to steal things. And Stormy got her name because of the little personality trait where she'd be calm one minute and like a hurricane the next.

Sometimes it's just best to look beyond the colour or shape or fluffiness of a cat and try to see the personality for a name choice.

Go down to the library and check out "ole possum's book of cats" written by T. S. Eliot. There you will find that Kyle;o is correct you should not name a cat according to his national origin but by its personality and color; for cats, already have a name that no one knows and is impossible to guess. That is why cats do not respond to a name given by their servants (they see humans as servants not masters). If you see them setting with a silly smile on their face and eyes closed, they are thinking about their own secret personal NAME that no one can guess. So pick an appropo name and change it often. Happy cats to ya....My cat is a jellicle cat.

Zeus is a good name for a cat - or other names from Greek Mythology. Perseus (Percy) is cute but manly.
