Is declawing a cat really bad for it? I know that people say that it is terrible for the cat. I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas or experience either way. The cat will be strictly in the house with no chances of going/getting outside. I also plan to have the procedure done very early so that it will not be accustomed to having claws. I just want some honest answers about this procedure so that I can decide.

I have a newborn kitten. She is black with a white stripe on her nose and I don't know what to name her!!! I don't want anything like 'Stripes' or 'Zebra', but something that has to do with her stripe. (If possible). Best answer gets ten points!!!!!

We got a kitten a week ago. Since she's mine, she sleeps in my room. At night she gets on my bed and attacks me! And its like, if you breath and your chest goes up. She ponces on you! She keeps this up until about one in the morning. I cant deal with this when I need to wake up early on school nights. We try to make her more active during the day, but it doesnt work much. maybe a 15 min. difference. Well, she's only 3 months so Im not sure if its even perfectly safe for her to sleep on my bed, even though its at the foot were she sleeps. We recently got her a cat bed and she sleeps in it even though every one says that cats wont do it. She has been sleeping in the Bathroom for the past week and Im going to try in my room again. Are there any suggestions to making her sleep in her bed instead of mine? At least until shes 4 months old.

I got a new covered litterbox to replace the old, regular pan box because I couldn't stand the smell. I put the new one in the exact same place as the old one, hoping my cat would just catch on. Instead, she decided to jump behind the new box and poop back there. I took the poop and put it in the new box and so far she hasn't had to go so I don't know how that'll work out, but somehow I'm doubting it will.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to get her to use this box? I really don't want to have to go back to the pan...

Hey there, my husband and I have had just one kitty for a little over a year now since she was a kitten so shes our baby. She is an indoor cat, so she doesnt know much about the real world outside. One time we wanted to get another cat and when we brought it home Lily (our current cat) got so scared and went into attack mode, it was really scary and we automatically decided against getting the second cat.
We have always wanted a dog and our friend wants to give us her american eskimo dog, so cute and relatively small. we are just scared as to how lilly will react and what is the best way to go about this ?? because the inside of our home is like her territory maybe we should introduce them outside?? thanks for any help.

I heard on the news that animal shelters are going to ban black cat adoptions on halloween because of those nut jobs out there that like to torture animals I'm wondering are you for the ban or against it?

I'm worried about my kitten. She's an indoor cat who is eating and drinking normally, but she has two perfectly symmetrical bumbs on both sides of her stomach. Is this what a swollen stomach looks like? I know that is a sign of FIP. At first I thought she was gaining weight, but since it's been a number of days, I don't think this is the case. I'm trying to avoid self-diagnosis since it's hard to know over the internet, but she doesn't go to the vet until tomorrow and I'm in search of peace of mind until then.

my cat got pg and had 3 kittens. all manx. one of them was named peepee. peepee i believe was the world happiest and loving kitten. they were born on april 25, 2005. peepee got sick at 5 days old. she ate alot, but stopped pooping at 3 days. at 5 days, her but literally exploded. she got better. when she was 5 weeks, one of peepee's siblings died. at this time, i was spending my time wit peepee. i gave her intence tharapy everyday for n hour. her back legs never moved untl 1 week after my tharapy. she wold have her back legs dragging behind her as she walked on her front feet looking proud. then she learned very slowly to lift up her legs. before you know it, she was up and running. when people saw her walk, their hearts nearly melt. she was pigeon toed.
she never learned how to use the litterbox. it came out all over, our house was always messy, so we bought he some diapers. they worked like a charm.
on august 22, 2006, my she died :(
what happened to her. i really want to know.

When my cat wants attention or to be petted, he will crawl up on my lap and start purring, rubbing his face against my cheek, kneading my face with his paws, and then bite either my nose or my chin. Sometimes he bites my earlobe. It is quite painful, and I want him to stop biting me. But how can I get him to stop without ruining the ritual of affection? Why does he bite at this time?

what is your opinion on this: my cat seems to love to eat plants (which (I've heard is suposed to indicate they have an upset stomach...) but every time she does she just throws up right afterwards. without the plants she doesn't throw up that often...
does she know what's good for her or is she just being silly?

Hi,
my cat gets "pimples" once in a while, little red spots on her chin where the hair falls out. it LOOKS like it would hurt but doesn't seem to bother her at all. then, after about a week, the redness goes away and the hair starts to grow back. it doesn't happen very often and always happens on the bottom of her mouth - her "chin".
is this bad? is there anything I can do to prevent this or heal it once it has started? or should I just not worry about it?
she is about 13 so maybe it's just an old age thing or something...?
thanks!
