I don't think it would hurt them. All animals need to eat some kind of plant material (Even carnivores eat the stomach of their prey and swallow partially-digested plant material.) and if your cat lives indoors, it's a good thing she's getting her greens.

Yes, little bits once in a while. My last cat liked that crunchy bit in the middle of the leaf to chew on. Try celery, too. My current cat is a fan of sauerkraut, crazy, eh?

they may have a hard time digesting the lettuce since cats are carnivores, but it wont hurt them

I wouldn't give it because they can choke very easy with lettuce.

Very unusual, I admit, but probably harmless to them - in fact they might even get the same benefit as eating grass.

Sure. It's not particularly normal, but it's fine as long your cat doesn't eat it in obscene quantities.
