Don't buy an enclosed box. That really concentrates odors for the cat and many don't think them. The urine would just get on the cover and around the sides and be a constant cleaning problem.

I have two cats that do this. One is 22 yrs old and has no tail. She always goes to the box and doesn't always get her little bottom totally in the box. Another cat "spray-pees". The vet saw her do this once and said he had never seen it before. So I put a few layers of newspaper under my boxes and that picks up the extra urine that doesn't make it in the box. The newspapers are easy to dispose of and what other use is there for old newspapers anyway. They can still be recycled.

Buy an enclosed litter box, your cat may not like the change but if you want to keep your floor clean from litter and pee and keep her from hanging her butt over you can do that. Also the litter box could be to small also.

Well, you say she is fixed, the litter box is enclosed. She must be putting her butt outside through the entrance, so smell must not be a prob since her head is not what she has at the entrance!

I would think the prob may be more of room. A larger box is all I can think of that may remedy the problem.

Yes, she needs a bigger box! We have multiple cats, and instead of using "real" litter boxes, we buy those clear storage boxes -- the sides are higher than those of the average litter box, but the box isn't closed on top. (And the cats don't have trouble hopping in.)

Hide around the corner or behind something and squirt her with a water bottle while she is in the act. If she sees you....she will only learn she can't do it while you are around. If she doesn't see you do it, she will learn that some mysterious force soaks her when she does it...lol. It's true and it works. Just be consistant and she will catch on really quick. You can also place her in there the right way each time she does it. She'll get the idea.

if you have any other cats this cat just probably doesn't like the smell of the other cats. so i would suggest getting another litter box and putting it somewhere where that cat likes to be and try to not let the other cats use it.

I would try getting either an enclosed litter box or a bigger one if you can-

That sounds like a valid reason a cat would pee out of the clutter container. yet a miles more effective difficulty-loose challenge, fairly for a cat of her age, is a UTI. that would want to reason her to associate the clutter container with discomfort, so she would want to dodge it. in spite of the indisputable fact that, she is conventional with she must be in it, so she is going as on the brink of it as possibe, attempting to dodge discomfort. there are quite some clinical motives cats do not use the clutter container, and the vet is the first step to make! good luck.

I used a dogs litter box. My cat as it got older couldn't get in and out of a standrad litterbox.
