My 2 year old jack russell is currently experiencing some problems with her ears. They're nice and floppy and fold over to face the front. Where the fold is however on both ears, her skin seems to be very dry and some pieces seem to have come away. When I'm playing with her she yelps, so they're obviously hurting her. I cannot afford to take her to the vet for another month and do not qualify for PDSA emergency care, so I was wondering if anybody knows what might be the problem with my Tinkerbell and/or any solutions?

I've been feeding my 6 months old dachshund Pedigree Puppy Formula, but he does wag his tails, get happy, or has a healthy appetite, he just eats because he is hungry, I've tried science diet, purina puppy chow, purina ONE, and Iams, none worked, what should I add to my puppy's food to make it more yummy???

I have a 6 month old dog and he still squats while urinating. That is normal, right?

I had one and they were such sweet cats, but part of me thinks it's kind of mean to breed and charge for something that looks like the genes went, oops.

It's pointless to say "They shouldn't have pets if they can't afford it", as people need contact with animals. Why should only wealthy people get to have pets? That isn't fair. It also isn't fair to the animals if they don't get the care they need.

What is the solution?

Our cat was sick roughly a month and a half ago. The vet doctor prescribed meds for upset stomach. Since then she has lost up to 4 pounds and is very skinny. Skin and bones. She is eating, not much, but eating and drinking nonetheless. Her behavior has not changed. Her and the other cats food was moved downstairs near the cat door. A new dog recently, but very tolerant of him. I see or hear no signs of illness but just knowing she's lost all that weight in a short amount of time worries me. What do you think is going on with my cat?

We have a pet rat about 1.5 yrs old. Suddenly she stopped sleeping on the upper levels of the cage and she is quite wobbly. She is listless wont scurry around and will not climb up the cage anymore. She is also fluffed up. As for eating she seems to have lost the ability to hold it with her feet although she is trying to eat food from her bowl - we have been feeding her baby food in an eye dropper which she takes well. Also when you pur her on your chest to crawl up it seems as though she has no strength in her legs. She seems quite happy even though she has all these problems. We took her to the vet and he gave her some antibiotics in case there is an underlying infection. She has been on them for 4 days but not much has changed. Do you think it is a stroke? or mayby a brain problem? Do we just keep up this regime and how do you know when its time to put her to sleep? Has anyone cared for a rat like this for an extended time?

My dogs dont' have fleas but contracted tapeworms from eating a flea infested dead squirrel they found on the trail. I wonder how the tape worm egg got into the flea.
Does anyone know how wild animals, coyotes, squirrels, etc. thrive with a tapeworm? Are some animals immune to tapeworms? My dogs were ravenous until treated. How do wild animals cope?
My dogs were treated with 5 tablets of 34mg Praziquantel and were drinking water all day - seemed very dehydrated. Is this one of the side effects?

My two dogs have fleas... I used store brand flea medication (the liquid stuff u put on their necks) and they had a crazy reaction to it, So I have been bathing them everyday with mild flea shampoo and nothing seems to work. I don't want to try any insecticide because one is also nursing. What else is there to do? I hate seeing them scratch.

I heard chicken bones can splinter and form sharp, spikely pieces. Are there other bones to avoid because they may hurt the dogs?

Ok, I have had freshwater tanks successfully for the last 2 or 3 years, and have decided to make the jump to saltwater. I am not going to set this tank up for several months to make sure I plan well. To start, I am going to go extremely simple, and with an overly big tank to ease up on water changes and quality things. I am planning a 75 gallon FO tank, with a crushed coral and white sand bottom. I will have dead coral as the main decor. I think i will be going with mostly easy beginner fish like various clowns and damsels. My daughter likes the "Finding Nemo" theme, lol. I am going to have 3-4 powerheads, maybe a wavemaker, and a very high glp rating eheim canister. I was thinking with just keeping the flourescents that come with the tank, but is this ok for a FO set-up? I have not been planning to have a sump or protein skimmer, but would you suggest one? As you can tell, just in case i screw up, I dont want to have thousands of dollars invested into this tank, hence no LR or LS. Thx

My neighbors dogs keep crapping in my yard we live in a community were your dog is supose to be on a leash or in a fenced yard. I have talked to them several times all they say is sorry, but then at night they let them out again . I rent so I asked my landlord what to do and he said if its a problem to call the pound that there's really nothing they can do . I don't want to call the pound beacuse they will know it was me. So what would you do? I have to live next to these people.

I took her to the vet and they gave some ear mite treatment to put in her ears twice a day. He also gave us some cleaning solution to put in her ear. We dug out alot of junk that was black and stringy. Is that ear mites?

Today, I got a new dog from a shelter. He's jack russel terrier. Tough, strong guy at age 6. I have a green-cheek-conure at home... and he's the WORLD to me. I swore if that guy hurts my bird, he's going back to the pound. I know it sounds cruel... and I hate MYSELF for thinking that way - but it's just how much I love my conure. Believe me, he's practically my son.
I'm quite aware of the breed's history - how they were "created" to hunt alongside horses for fox, rabbits, etc. The trait has carried on through the generations, and the terrier group is still interested in small animals - such as birds.
Are there shock collars that will deliver a small jolt to him {nothing harming} just to let him know that if he goes near Boona {my conure} it's bad? Are there shockers that can go off once he's crossed a specific point?
How can I train Kona - my dog - to stay away from my bird? I have mice, too, but I'm not too concerned because they're always in their cage.

Thanks. :)
