The siphon tube that drains out the water of my aquarium is only about half the height of the aquarium. The filter is an external canister filter. Is this effective or should I extend the tubing to reach near the bottom of the tank?

I want to take him to the vet, but I am between jobs at the moment and, while I can afford the 'office visit', I can't afford any type of diagnostics or treatments, if needed. Does anyone know of low cost veterinary care in southern California? Specifically Orange County. Thank you for your help.

My 20 yo furbaby has cancer and has gone into kidney failure. He's going downhill and I don't want him to suffer any longer. He hisses, spits, bites and in general throws a fit anytime we go to his vet. I know this is necessary but I don't want his last breath drawn with anger and stress...only my love... What can I do for him?

Do you have a dog that would really protect you if you needed it? If so, what kind of dog and how do you think it would protect you. I have a East German working line Shepherd that I know will protect me if needed. I know that he will not bite on command wihtout someone having a sleeve on. But, I know that he will protect me if needed by taking someone down if they came after me.

I got a 8 week old kitten from the humane society last week. They said it was litter box trained, but it isn't . It will go in the litter box sometimes, but other times it won't. It has the most awful meow I've ever heard and it keeps me up all night, along with my 18 month old. It's so hard to try to love it. I spent a lot of money on it, and so I don't want to have to get rid of it. I just can't handle the peeing and crying all the time. Does anyone else have a cat likethis that got better with time? What can I do? Sometimes it feels like the cat is trying to piss me off because it constantly needs attention. I pet it every night after my son goes to bed, and during his naps. My husband and I both work and go to school, and I just can't live like this much longer.

I need some information about English Miniature Labradoodles! Thinking about getting one but need a rough estimate on adult size, weight and temperament.
Also, what prices are they being sold for as puppies? In English £'s only as I live in England!

I just recieved a new chihuahua puppy yesterday. When I picked Foxxy up to pet her I noticed little bugs crawling on her, my sister later informed me that unfortunatly "the little bugs" are fleas. I removed alot of them by combing her fur and I bathed her, but there are still a few fleas left on her. I want to be able to bring Foxxy around other people and let her sit on the couch but, right now I dont think that's safe for the people shes around. Im basically just looking for the safest way to remove the rest of the fleas and eggs from Foxxy's fur.

OK, what suggestions do you have for a dog that is so gung ho, that she basically plows me down on recalls! LOL I have stopped doing finishes with her right now on a recall, because she was so happy to finish after plowing me down. LOL She will be a high scorer when I get her fine tuned. The biggest thing is getting her to stop and sit in front of me on a recall without her trying to knock me over or without her putting her paws up on me as well. Any suggestions?

My friend slept over last night and while we were sitting on the couch watching tv my dog jumped on the couch and out of the blue just attacked her hand. Today she couldn't feel her arm so she had to get a tetnus shot. My dog's a westie so he's small but I don't know what to do because he attacks people. I don't want to put him down, is there anywhere to give him away to someone? I don't know if my mom will let me do that, but I don't want my friends to be afraid of comoing over.

My mother-in-law saw me in the kitchen cleaning the dog and cat bowl and she got very upset because she said I cannot use the same wash cloth to clean human dishes with animal dishes. Do you agree? I don't see anything wrong with it. My pets don't have dangerous diseases. And besides, soap is a disinfectant.

clean for the new baby. I have a cat and just want to make sure he hasn't contracted fleas. I'd like to wipe down everything from the baby's car seat (which was handed down to us by my brother) to all our mattresses and stuff...just to be safe. Is there anything that I can use that would be safe on things that are not washable?? Thanks!

Sorry to be blunt in the title, but I have a desperate client who needs a solution quickly, and I don't have the time to shift through answers which just say 'i fink cranberrys good for bladder probs!!1!'

I 'm a vet nurse in a busy practice, and I have a client who owns a two year old FN SBT (pure bred I might add, and is not owned for all the wrong reasons)

The dog has had a severe bladder infection for over a year now. She has visited a specialist, who discovered that part of the problem was due to how she was spayed. From a sneaky peek at the specialists report, I saw that it was something along the lines of the uterine stump was stuck to something it shouldn't be. I couldn't find out much more, as I was told 'You shouldn't be looking at that, it doesn't concern you..' I digress.

After the specialist visit, the dog was put on a cocktail of AB's, clomicalm, Diazapam, Cystease, and cranberry capsules, totalling over 30 tablets a day, over three doses of each except Diaz).
