It takes different dogs different amounts of time. It depends on how mature your dog is. Until your dog is fully mature It will squat to pee. Some dogs can take between 4-6 months while others could take up to a year and some never lift their legs.

I have a male, 8 month old APBT, neutered at 6 mos and he still squats and probably always will. He has been around other dogs that lift their leg but hasn't picked that up so who knows, maybe you'll have a squatting dog like mine

Completely normal! My dog is a 2 year old mixed breed from the SPCA. He was neutered at 7 weeks and didn't start lifting his leg until he was about 1. A lot of males dogs simply don't do it.. your dog may be no different!

It varies. Some, like my male who was not neutered until he was 10 (he is 11 now), do both. I wouldn't be too concerned over it, although mine doesn't squat as much as lowers his center closer to the ground. So long as he doesn't have something like kidney stones or a bladder infection, my unprofessional opinion is not to worry about his potty habits. If you do catch overt symptoms of frequent urination, "accidents", fever, or sometimes blood in the urine take him to the vet right away.

My dog is an 11 year old male and he has never lifted his leg while peeing. He is also a squatter. Yes, it is okay. As long as he is peeing he's alright.

you know.. my puppy is about 6 months old, and he still squaks when he pees.. the vet said that he may just keep on doing that! She also said that it is normal for some dogs to just not pick-up their leg when they pee..
.. sad.. I really want him to lift his leg!!

my male never lifted his leg until we stayed with a friend for a week. He learned to lift his leg from my friends dog.
He also learned to mark too.. although he doesnt mark at home, certain friend's houses that we visit, Fred will try to mark. Be glad your boy doesnt lift.
