Instead of stuffing your cat, if the cost really is in the thousands as the other poster said, you could have it cremated then take it to Build a Bear workshop and put inside a stuffed cat. I personally think that's a bit creepy, but one of my friends did it. Just thought I'd throw the idea out there as an alternative.

Check your yellow pages for 'taxidermy', those are the local places to you. Call and ask if they do domestic animals and explain about the cat. If they can, they'll tell you yes and a price. If they can't, then at least you'll know.

It won't be cheap, it requires expense on the taxidermist's part to get the interior styrofoam form, to take off the hide, to tan the hide (definately not cheap) and to buy the correct eye size and color. Then the whole process of 'assembly' which takes weeks. You're also paying for his or her time to do all this.

Usually the results aren't all that lifelike, they never get the faces right. You can check around online and look at freeze drying, which is a lot faster, gives better results, and is more natural, but it's also expensive.

Depends upon the taxidermist, but I don't believe it's particularly cheap. I also agree with someone else who mentioned that the results are often not very realistic and you may be very disappointed with the results.

Have you considered finding a local artist who paints pet portraits? You can ask to see their portfolio of previous work and it would be a nice way to remember your cat.

That's pretty sick. Why on earth would you want to do that? Do you think that's loving your cat to put his body through that????
