Yesterday we were all at my cousin's house & her dog got accidentally locked in the car & died because it was about 4 million degrees in the shade (I'm in Australia) - it was accidental.....when her boyfirend arrived the dog must have jumped into the car & we didn't notice. They live on a farm so it isn't unusual to not see the dogs for hours because they go off exploring or just find a shady tree to sleep under.

Anyway, would it be a good idea to send her a card & this really cute photo frame with a dog & a girl & "Girl's Best Friend" written on it & a photo of her dog in the frame?

I want her to know that we all loved that little mutt & we're here for her if she needs to have a cry but I don't want to make her more upset.

I was told by an annonymous person that cats are guardians of the sword.

What does this mean?

I have a 2 and a half month old Irish Wolfhound. I know they average 6 to 8 years, but what are some ways to extend his life? I hate to think this sweet little, about to be massive guy, will have such a short life.
So what are some great ways to help a extra large breed dog live longer?
We are very active, and play a lot. He eats high quality puppy food for large dogs. Regular vet visits. Basically all the usual things. What else can I do to keep him in great healthy shape?
Or is this a no win situation, and only occasional exceptions to the norm?

Im just an amature with three indoor cats.I have a big heart for cats and always try to do the best for thier well beings.Long story short, beside my cats, thier are a 3 cats which i feed at nights (orginally thier were five, one semi tamed one my friend graciously took in, and one, I also adopted.anyways, 2 cats have already been TNR, Trap Neuter Release, and the third one I just trapped in a humane trap and im taking her tommorrow to be spayed. (did i mention that i found two baby kittens on thursday which i caught and took to a no kill shelter whom is always full except for kittens which they say have no problem finding good homes)
Anyways, are thier any ametures out there who dont work for a vet or humane society who know what im going threw? I love cats dearly and have read that TNR is the best thing for feral cats livlihood, but the whole process of trapping, transporting to an animal clinic and then releasing back to the wild is very strenous on the nerves? can anyone relate

a few months ago, a boxer attacked my dog, cody, and bit him on the nose. then, two weeks later, he was attacked by a great dane at the dog park. ever since these incidents, he's been really nervous and shy around other dogs. at the dog park, he wont play with other dogs, he just sniffs around the edges. today my friends and i all took a walk together with our dogs. the whole time, cody was whimpering, shying away from the others, and staying very close to me. i feel bad that hes not comfortable with other dogs. how can i help him become more social?

Hi we just got a new puppy yesterday. She is 8 weeks old, and we also have a 16 week old puppy. The older puppy sleeps in our room in a puppy play pen and I was wondering if its good to put the new puppy in our room as well but in her crate. Because last night we had her in another room and she SCREAMED all night making my other puppy distraught and sleepless, along with us. If we move her into our room what other things can we do to make her more comfortable that REALLY work, because we did not have this problem at all with our first puppy. what can we do to avoid the screaming at night. We let her out in the night so she screams for other reasons besides having to potty.

Also, I go back to work tommorrow but will be back twice during the day to potty her and play.I was wondering am I just supposed to keep her in her crate even though she will scream most of the day? Will her screaming drive my other dog nuts? He has an entire room durin the day cuz he is fully potty trained

My dog ran on a very rough street, a 1/4" of his pads are gone on every paw. I put quick stop on his paws and wrapped them up, he is still in a lot of pain. He's a 80 lbs. pitbull which has a very high tolerance for pain. Anybody have any suggestion on how I can comfort his pain?

I just got a new Lab and Catahoula mixed puppy 7 weeks old. I bathed him with a flea shampoo for puppies yesterday and today I washed him with dawn because some people said it would help. He still has fleas and is miserable. I rescued him because his previous owner was going to shoot him :/ I cant stand to see him suffer and scratch all night long. His little sister has fleas as well so we're trying to keep them apart untill their both clean. Can someone please help me?

She's at least a year old, and she looks really healthy. We got her as a stray (a long while back) She's really small and skinny though. She's about the same size as my five month kitten, except thinner. She acts healthy and is playful. What could be wrong with her? or is this normal for some cats?

I have recently been given a tame rat, she is not too bad for being picked up and doesn't bite as long as you havn't been handling meat.
I work with birds of prey and I am starting doing educational visits to kids parties with my owl, I am already set up with a company that organise witch and wizard themed chidrens events and was thinking about using the rat for these parties (obviously not alongside the owl or we will be a rat short).
What I am wondering is how intelligent rats are, can you teach them simple commands or even just to respond to thier name.
I will be using her in an educational sense so will be showing what they would do naturally.

And do not say neither. Im asking which is better out of the two in your opinion. What is the real difference? (besides appearance, even though they look a lot a like)

And please, give reasons.

Hi, my 7 month old cavs hair is very thin, vet has said nothing medically wrong with that, just the way he is, hes got quite a bare patch under his neck ( put that down to pulling on lead, changed to harness) and his tummy is quite bald, the worse parts are around his bum and back legs, although its not bald its very sparse, any one know if there is anything i can do, or give him to make it thicker?

My puppy gunner is 10 months old and his eye is bloodshot red with a little goop in it and his other is starting to do the same. My vet cant get him in for a week and he is he only vet around here that will do a payment plan with me. I would take him in to a different vet but i dont have the cash to do so due to a financial emergency 3 days ago. I have been applying drops to his eyes but it doesnt seem to do anything nd he wont let me put a warm cloth on it or even near it. I have to hold him down to "try" to put the drops in. It is very sore and he will start nipping at you. He isnt usually like that. If you have any suggestions that you know for a fact wont hurt him...please let me know. keep in mind he is only 10 months old. I feel so bad because he is in pain and sleeping more than normal. HELP?
