My puppy gunner is 10 months old and his eye is bloodshot red with a little goop in it and his other is starting to do the same. My vet cant get him in for a week and he is he only vet around here that will do a payment plan with me. I would take him in to a different vet but i dont have the cash to do so due to a financial emergency 3 days ago. I have been applying drops to his eyes but it doesnt seem to do anything nd he wont let me put a warm cloth on it or even near it. I have to hold him down to "try" to put the drops in. It is very sore and he will start nipping at you. He isnt usually like that. If you have any suggestions that you know for a fact wont hurt him...please let me know. keep in mind he is only 10 months old. I feel so bad because he is in pain and sleeping more than normal. HELP?

Along with the drops pick up some lubricating eye ointment from the store. It'll say for "dry eye". This is just a harmless, sterile eye ointment, but it will keep his eye moist and hopefully a little more comfortable until you can get to the vet.

Apply the ointment 30 minutes after applying the drops, so the ointment doesn't slide out of the eye. Apply a strip across the eyeball and try not to touch the tip of the tube on the eye itself to keep the tube clean and sterile.

Keep trying the warm compresses. If you need to, take a pair of pantyhose, loop it over the bridge of his nose and tie it under his jaw, then tie again back behind his ears. This will make a home-made, temporary muzzle so you can treat his eye, then remove it. It won't hurt him, give him something else to think about and you'll be able to treat his eye w/o getting hurt.

wow, I'm sorry. i have been there tho. maybe you should call the vet back and give the urgency of the situation. aside from that keep up what you are doing. just make him take the drops. if he nips, give him the nice firm no and continue on. make sure he knows not to nip even if you are hurting him. hopefully he will figure out you are trying to take care of him. ask the vet for anything else you should or shouldn't be doing to stabilize his condition.

here is a link to some causes for red eyes and discharge. it may be able to help you out to narrow down what it is as well as let you know the severity of the situation.

The fact remains that he needs to see a VET ASAP. If the drops you are putting in the eyes were NOT given to you by the vet for HIM...STOP using them!!!!!!! There are different medications for different conditions. Some can cause more damage if they are used wtih the wrong condition.

Then, beg and borrow the money to get the dog seen ASAP. That is just part of dog ownership. Things happen, but he doesn't know that and should not wait. If there is no way, give him up to a shelter that can get him the help he needs.

None somewhat. youthful doggies are not common in shelters up here. Older doggies, particular. We observed an 8 month previous gsd. somebody point out uncooked no longer being ideal for doggies. this is completely fantastic for doggies. greater useful than the crap bought in shops. Many breeders initiate off feeding uncooked suitable from weaning. Inclusing uncooked Pomeranian feeding breeders. Like I mentioned, if puppy does not consume the next day, get him to a vet. His no longer ingesting might have no longer something to do with eating recurring. could be he have been given into some thing and has an obstruction. bi-mar/Pomeraninan_Barf.aspx Edit. doggies are common everywhere every physique has intact animals. i'm useful hundreds on your area have intact animals, puppy shops, and so on. they simply are not common in shelters. you're able to desire to propose doggies are not common in shelters the place you reside.. no longer that doggies are not common the place you reside.

I recommend calling around to the other vets and explaining the situation on the phone. Ask them if they know what it could be. It will either ease your mind, or help you know that you HAVE to find the money. I find many offices are very helpful and honest about whether you need to go in.

My pup drank a bit of anti-freeze one time and I was broke. I explained it to them and they told me to hurry and get to the grocery store and pick up some cheap peroxide and put it down his throat to induce vomiting. He was fine after he puked it all up and I was happy that I didn't waste money and time going to the vet.

Here try these people:
CareCredit. They are a company who will in times of need will loan you the money via a credit card just for vet care.
Please call them and see if you qualify for their card.
1-800-365-8295.
They will tell you in minutes if your approved and then you can get your pup the help he needs ok.
Oh I'd find a new vet too.

Best of luck!

First of all, that care credit thing someone was talking about, they run a credit check on you. My credit is bad from being poor, so, they won't help you if you have bad credit.

And second, if you can, while the puppy is sleeping, hold him on your lap like your petting him and rub the warm rag on his eye. Maybe that will help.

sounds to me like either you need to explain the situation with the eye better to your current vet or get a new one. simple as that
