In chunks?
If the cat is pulling the fur out so you see tufts on the floor around her, this could be stress or a food allergy. But if you're brushing her and pull at the fur and the whole wad comes out, it's more likely she's been exposed to ringworm.

your friends right, cats who are stressed, do get that way sometimes, but the vets best, as it can also be a dietary problem. Knowing the age of the cat, or how long its lived in the same home would help. I'd be interested in knowing the results, when you find out.

Could be both or either one.
Try brushing her to loosen dead hair and see how it goes. If she is fighting with the outdoor cats, she is having to try to establish herself in an area that is already claimed by neighborhood cats.
Keep her inside to keep her safe.

could be stress, could be normal shedding (my cat sheds in chunks sometimes, but it snot noticeable on her body. if its noticeable on your cats body take it to a vet STAT) or it could be their diet. make sure your feeding them good quality food, water, and wet food. if it shows signs of sickness take it to a vet immediately! cats are good at hiding the fact that theyre sick.

My cat's fur was coming out and I caught her pulling it out. I figure it was because of stress.
