She's at least a year old, and she looks really healthy. We got her as a stray (a long while back) She's really small and skinny though. She's about the same size as my five month kitten, except thinner. She acts healthy and is playful. What could be wrong with her? or is this normal for some cats?

Some cats are just small. I took in a stray I didn't know was pregnant and she only weighed a little over five pounds. I thought her to be a kitten still. She was well on her way to giving birth when I took her to the vet, and there was nothing I could do but let her have her kittens, give away the ones I could, and take the rest to rescue. She still is tiny, maybe 51/2 to 6 pounds. If she seems healthy and active I wouldn't worry that much. Just take her for regular checkups and shots.

This is normal for some cats. When cats are stray, they are always active with running, and hunting, and jumping etc. So that there will help her stay trim. Is she an indoor kitty now? If so, that's great. She will gain a little weight by being indoors, and it will also make her a lot safer from cars/trucks, and dogs, and kids who are mean to animals.
But not to worry. It could be the type of breed she is too. A healthy weight for a one year old cat is about 7-8 pounds I believe. My cats are four years and they weigh 10-11 pounds. They are a couple pounds over weight, but they are healthy.
As long as she's not showing any signs of being sick, then there is no cause for concern. Sounds like she's a very happy kitty who is loved! :-)

It could just be genetics, or that she was the runt of the litter... but after reading your question the first thing that came to mind was that she might have warms or some sort of parasite. Since she was a stray, you do not know what her living conditions were prior to having her. Parasites can stunt growth in cats and eat up all the nutrients in its hosts body. The same goes for a human. Please take her to the vet just to make sure she doesnt have a parasite or worms in her system.
Good luck with her and let me know if you take her to the vet and if they said her size is normal... I hope for the best for her :)

If she is healthy, I wouldn't worry about it. I have 2 female cats. One is a year and a half and the other is 2 years old and she's smaller than the younger one. Sometimes it depends on the kind of cats. She is a siamese calico and very thin and slender, 2 years old and she's 7 pounds. She looks like she's about 1 year old. But, if you are worried, you should have her checked out to make sure.

It's normal. Cats come in different sizes. As long as she acts healthy, she probably is healthy. Maybe you need a different food for her though. I have a cat that's pretty skinny so I suppliment her with canned food as well as dry.

Some cats are just small - they have a small frame. My cat Pipsqueak is small, and the same size as two cats we have that are two years younger than her. She's a little bigger than her mom though. Just keep an eye on her weight and make sure that she doesn't become "chunky". Pips is that way and now I need to put her on a diet. You cat could also just be a small grower.

Some cats are just small especially girl cats. But make sure she has been checked out by the vet for worms. That is why wild cats are skinny, they usually get worms.

Emily,
I have a cat that I adopted, from being a stray 2 years ago, she is all black with a small frame and weights about 2 - 3 lbs.
She is active and very healthy, but very shy.
I don't think we have anything to worry about.
We show them love and they will show it back to us.

She's probably just the runt of her family...or her parents were both small. But you should take her to a vet & have them tell you if there is a problem or if she is healthy & the right size.
