He had a very bad start in life & was very ill, underfed + physically & mentally abused when we got him 9 yrs ago. He has always looked pretty pathetic but is a real tough guy & has thrived with us. When we got him he already had heart murmer but after settling in with our other dogs he has always behaved like a puppy. He recently started coughing a lot & vet explained what can happen when heart valve stops working properly but with short course of medication the coughing stopped for a while. It is now back but we have heard that major treatment only prolongs the inevitable & the animal often suffers for longer with little benefit or quality of life. We will happily pay for treatment but do not want him to suffer, he has been such a happy loving little soul. I dont want him poked, prodded & distressed or filled full of medication with side effects if there is no cure. I would rather just keep him comfortable & let him go when the time is right. Can anyone with experience advise please

A few weeks ago I noticed that my little bitty chihuahua had big scabs at the tips of her ears. At first I thought the vet might have clipped them together for some kind of cleaning, and pinched too tight. They healed....and now they are back!!!!

I called the vet and she said that sometimes little dogs have circulatory problems, and can't supply blood to their large extremities. My dog is two lbs and has very large ears! It's part of her personality! The vet said that basically her ears are rotting and dying because they aren't getting any blood to the tops. Horrible!! She said there is medication I can give my dog.

Why would my dog suddenly develop this condition after 2 years?

Has anyone experienced this problem with their small dog?

Someone hit my brother's family's dog earlier tonight with their car. They just kept driving but my brother's daughter saw it happen from the window. She says she saw the license plate of the car. Is there some law about not stopping when someone hits your dog, because it seems like there should be. My brother wants to know if he should have her give the police the license plate. Any help would be appreciated.

And, if you do, what is it about them that you love? The furry tail? The cute little whiskers? What do you adore about the little rats who climb trees?

I wrote in about a week ago, about my cats swollen upper lip. We saw a vet, and he was diagnosed with rodent ulcerations, sore teeth and a slight upper respitory. He's been on 2 medications for about 7 days now. An injection of "Depo Pred", which is a steriod for the skin infection basically. And Orbax for 10 days. He didn't have an appitite for a few days after but he started eating a few days ago at a nice calm and slow pace. Our cats get wet food once or twice a week. Twice this week, and both times he's thrown up. Not violently, but a serious massive puke. 95% of it the wet food. 5% of it hair. He's never had a problem keeping wet food down, and I was just wondering if anyone knows if the throwing up of wet food is a side reaction to his medications. I'm calling the vet in the morning to ask, but I'm just curious if any one knows in Answers, because it would truely, ease my mind tonight.

She is a filly and we work every day for about 2 hours then I let her graze for about an hour. Should I put her in the pasture with her friends for a few hours after we work. Usually when she has had an hour of graze time I put her back in her stall. I've been reading that it would be better for her to get more turn out time. The place where I keep her says that as long as I get her out of the stall everyday and we ground work that she can be stalled all the time. She still isn't old enough to ride so I make sure we ground work every day and she gets some exercise. What's best for her?

I want a mini daschund. I want a very young one, perferably unborn at this time so i can get it as soon as it is ready. I cannot decide if i want a longhaired or shorthaired. My aunt has a longhaired and it is so cute, but i love the shorthaired too. I will probably go for the short haired. Less shedding and hair everywhere.

Why don't people know that this dog, and shihorkies, pitadors, and all that other nonsense was created by a hustler who wanted to find a way to market his mutts? Why do people use living animals as trendy accessories? Why would you pay any more than an adoption fee for a mutt?? Oh, and don't these people know the multitude of genetic flaws that these so-called designer dogs could have, that there are no guarantees of health, no matter what the so-called breeder says? NO responsible breeder would create these mutts, nor would they sell them for purebred prices! Anyone who bought one of these dogs, call the cops, you've been ROBBED. Sorry, but this is just so offensive to anyone who loves dogs and understands genetics!

We have an 8 month old Baenji/Lab mix, Spartan. He has been a great dog so far, but has become a bit aggressive (wants to play to much) with other dogs. We adopted Autumn, (2 yr old, Border Collie/Lab mix) sunday 10/14. She is so shy. When she is on the leash, she is almost more trusting. She and Spartan have already really hit it off. He was very aggressive with her immediately, she growled and nipped and now it's not as much, he's already learned his place. She follows him around, lays down near him (not touching). We have two kennels, she goes in either and he just uses the other... he's been verrrry accommodating to her. She follows him around.

Problem is she won't let us near her. If we are playing with Spartan, petting, etc., she might come up, kiss, nose us, might let us pet her, but lots of times jumps away. She starts at loud and not even very loud noises and paces around our kitchen table (has extended now to the rest of the downstairs), nonstop.

Any advice??? I don't think

Long story short, ive been feeding a 3 stray feral cats 3, two of which have already been TNR. The third one i didnt trap in time and i think she had a litter (she was huge then skinny). I figured none of the kittens survived becuase i never saw any and ive been feeding the mom every morning and night. She never looked preoccupied with a litter hiding somewhere becuase she would hang out and wait for hours until I came home to feed her and the other two.
Anyways, tonight I looked outside where i always feed the cats and low and behond there were two baby kittens also eating from the food. As i told you im trying to stop the multiplying (TNR) so I freaked and took the two babies inside to my spare bedroom. I figured kittens have much more of chance to be adopted then grown wild cats. Anyways i do know a woman who runs a no-kill shelter and i plan to take them there tommorrow?
Did i act too soon?should I have let them be and trapped them when they were older?what should i do

Would i be able to do this? Buy a 2.5 gallon aquarium kit with a whisper filter, heater and hood equipped etc. Could i cut to fit a plexiglass divider, drill holes through it, silicone it to the acrylic tank, and house 2 bettas ? one on each side? The filteration and heat i dont see a problem since there are going to be fairly large sized holes (1/2 inch big). Enough for easy flow. The only thing that i see a problem with is the bettas are always going to be flaring and going nuts because there in the same tank with a see through glass between them. What should i do for this? Is this healthy at all? Will they get used to it? I already know how to control the internal filter's current so it wont be so strong on one side of the bettas home. So will this work out? Im also going to be getting a 5 gallon tank that will be with live plants heavily planted housing 1 betta and 3-4 cories. I dont want to divide that because i dont want the divider taking away from the beauty of the tank.
