I wrote in about a week ago, about my cats swollen upper lip. We saw a vet, and he was diagnosed with rodent ulcerations, sore teeth and a slight upper respitory. He's been on 2 medications for about 7 days now. An injection of "Depo Pred", which is a steriod for the skin infection basically. And Orbax for 10 days. He didn't have an appitite for a few days after but he started eating a few days ago at a nice calm and slow pace. Our cats get wet food once or twice a week. Twice this week, and both times he's thrown up. Not violently, but a serious massive puke. 95% of it the wet food. 5% of it hair. He's never had a problem keeping wet food down, and I was just wondering if anyone knows if the throwing up of wet food is a side reaction to his medications. I'm calling the vet in the morning to ask, but I'm just curious if any one knows in Answers, because it would truely, ease my mind tonight.

It's very possible that he just has an upset stomach from the antibiotic. If these are the only two times he has vomitted, I wouldn't worry yourself this evening. Keep a good eye on him and speak to your vet in the morning. As long as he seems to be doing well, don't lose sleep. On occasion I have one that will throw up food if he eats too quickly. You sound like you know your cat, you would know if you need to panic. Good luck!

If there's hair, then don't worry about the food coming up. Cats with a hairball in their stomach that needs to come up WILL barf up right after eating, as that puts even more pressure on the stomach. The food comes up and then the plug of fur right behind it. It's not the food's fault at all, it's just the hairball. A lot of cats groom heavily before they know they'll be eating, so it's down there all ready to barf....

But if he's puking up food without the fur behind it, then I'd consider that something to watch for, and make sure the dry food isn't coming up as well, because that's a stomach thing and would need you to consult with the vet about because the meds could be doing it.

He may have an allergy to the medication, if you are seeing your vet soon just point out all that has been happening, a change of medication and/or diet while he recovers might just do the trick . Hope your Kitty is well soon.
