My female shih tzu is going to be 3 in October but she has started digging again and it is really annoying. She was digging last year so we put boots on her whenever she went outside until she stopped but now she is digging again. I don't want to do anything that will hurt her (smacking) but I want her to stop.

After ages trying to get one myself, I've given up and an appointment has been made for my cat tomorrow morning - the vet says she can be sedated and a sample taken then. However, no-one has mentioned to me that she should be fasting - so I'm not sure if I can give her anything in the morning e.g. food or milk... her appointment at the vet isn't until 10 a.m. and she's up and about 6 a.m. - I don't want to be starving her necessarily....anybody know if it would be ok to give her something light to eat and drink prior to sedation?

I really would like to get a dead dog like Rowdy that JD and Turk have on Scrubs. It would be so cool to be able to take him to the park and put roller skates on him and take him for a walk.

Is there a place you can order a stuffed dead dog from?

I just moved in to my own home (single), and since I always had several pets at a time growing up (mostly dogs and cats), I would like to get at least one or possibly two of each (cats and dogs).

My question is whether it would be better to get them all at the same time, so they 'grow up' together, or would it be better to get them seperately (e.g. get the kittens first, and when they're grown up a bit get the dogs). Also, if it is better to get them seperately, would it be better to get the kittens or the puppies first?

I'm on a extended leave from work at the moment (probably going to be at least six months, up to a possible eight months) because of a medical issue (it won't affect my ability to care for the kittens/puppies, including walking the dogs).

I will probably just see what the local animal shelter has for kittens when it's time to get them. For the puppies, I love larger dogs, so it will most likely be a pair of standard poodles, or a S. Poodle and an Italian Greyhound.

Why do people buy dogs from pet stores? Doesnt common sense tell you a MALL is not the place to buy a 10-20 year commitement . How about choosing a dog breed? Is the ability to think for oneself a rarity , must we all follow celebrities? I am not saying all people are like this but why do the majority of people seem to lack common sense with the regaurd to dogs ? Please give me some insight on this matter.

I asked a question earlier about getting a cat into her carrier. But now I'm wondering about the after-vet, upset feelings she may have. (My husband took her to the vet, and they're gone now.) Once she stayed upset with me for like 2 weeks after a move.

Any suggestions?

I am DEAD certain that my puppy has fleas. My boyfriend said he saw small black bugs on him after playing outside. He is always scratching or something. When we take him to the vet, the vet says she sees no fleas or flea dirt. I want to just give him something to be sure. I would hate the thought of fleas in my house.

I love studying the Medieval ages and I especially love the rare moment when the author of the book says something like, "The knights couldn't have done anything as well as they did without their horses." I was just wondering, were the Arabians, American Saddlebreds, Morgans and Quarter Horses around in the mid 14 or 1500's? Just curious.

My new dog was on the bed the other day and he rolled over on his back so I could rub his tummy. He did not realize how close he was to the edge of the bed. You should have seen the expression on his face when he realized he was falling over. hahahahhaha He was ok, it was funny as heck though.

Don't get me wrong, I know that there are those out there that are "dog lovers"....it doesn't really matter what kind of dog. There are also those out there that are on a "mission" to save dogs. All of that is great.

My problem is with the people that have never owned a member of the "bully" breed, yet they talk about them as if they are monsters. I have two American Pit Bull Terriers, and they are, by far, the best dogs I have ever owned. They are loving, loyal, and willing to please. I've never had any of the so called "problems" that I hear these pit bull "haters" talking about. My experience has been so good with them, I wouldn't ever think about owning another breed of dog.

My heart hurts because my daughters come home telling me horror stories that the neighbors kids have told them about our dogs, and what they will do, and these people have never spent any amount of time around our dogs. My dogs are part of my family, and I am a responsible owner. What can I do?

A mother cat and her kitten moved into my shed.

We're having some freezing temperatures over here and I would like nothing more than bringing her in the house, but I'm concerned about the health of my current animals.

I have no cats, only dogs - what are possible diseases that can be passed from cats to dogs?

I've always wondered how my fish would react if I jumped into the aquarium with them; if they would approach me, or hide, or swim excitedly and kiss me...

Has anyone ever done this before? And has anyone else wondered the same thing, or am I 'unique'?
