Nature's Miracle is my vote.
but if it is repeated and often it still may ruin/ stain the carpet over time.
The trick with nature's miracle is you have to soak it.. as much nature's miracle as you think there was dog pee to reach the stain smell.
My dog has had similar issues and I can honestly say with faithful use of this product the hall no longer smells like pee at all which is great, but the carpet is slightly discolored and I think all the soaking has also made our very high quality padding sag somewhat.. but no smell and if it is infrequent will clean it up perfectly.
Make sure you follow the directions exactly though and let it soak. if the smell is still there then it didn't reach all of the urine and needs to be repeated. Consider getting a black light to find those hidden spots.

I would recommend renting a steam cleaner. They aren't that expensive and they really do wonders for carpet messes! And then follow up with an enzyme cleaner like Simple Solutions (sold at most petstores).

I would suggest getting a shampoo vac. This might occure frequently untill your puppy gets potty trained. And there are carpet shampoos that you can get for your vac that are meant just for this problem.

Buy Simple Solution or Nature's Miracles SPRAYS and if it's #1, spray it on, leave it for ten minutes then wipe, if it's #2, clean it up then do it. I use it and it doesn't smell bad, kinda like baby stuff.
