I have been around pets all my life...I should know this one! I have a kitten I have been handfeeding for 4 weeks...I have his full brother who is 4 months old and SHORT haired. How can I tell if this little guy is long haired? He sure looks it right now. Both are 1/2 ragdoll (mom is pure) dad is a grey shorthair mix.

Just moved into my dorm and I thought some fish would be great in my room. I got a one gallon bowl and three goldfish, but they all died within four days. Did this happen because I had to drive the fish to my dorm (just an hour and a half away) or because the bowl was overcrowded? Any tips and advice?

I have a six year old cat who was spayed three years ago. She still goes through heat cycles, but my vet has never seemed to overly concerned about it. Today, though, I have been finding spots of blood where she normally naps. Is this normal or should I take her in?

HI,
I have a baby parakeet that is 6 months old. I got her when she was 3 months old. I have put celery leaves, grapes. scrambled egg, apple slice. She will not go near them. How do I get her to try them. I'm sure she would like them.

it seems like there is dried up calcium or some type of stain on the fish tank glass. it looks like its just foggy. its only present on the top half of the glass (all around the fish tank). when i add water it kind of goes away. but when i clean it and let it dry it comes back. ive tried scraping it off with everything! there has to be some type of chemical that'll take it off. i think we got it because we didn't use it for about a year or so. all the water in it evaporated and when i cleaned it just recently i noticed it on the top half of the glass.

Will the males bother the female trying to breed or stress her out? I just got them today. The female is going to have babies soon.

Thank you!

My cat drinks alot of water. I mean she'll be at the water container for about 3 minutes. While our other cat comes and drinks only a little. My cat is also pooping a lot and eating alot. Today she puked 3 times while she ran crying like she was in pain. She has a tendency to puke in her food dish.

I adopted this cat four days ago, my dad said it was my neighbors and they left her behind when they moved,so I took her in, bought her food a litter box, the works. But that guy didn't take good car of this cat...her hair, its tangled! its in huge clumps, they look like handles that you can pull on. I'm worrying because i've never seen this on a cat, my dad says that she might be sick and i think he's right. Though she eats, drinks and goes to the bathroom normally, and has a healthy weight, I really want to take her to a vet and see if she is healthy but i don't know if its a vet I should be taking her too or a groomers, help me out please! I don't think she's in pain but she hates the clumps on her fur they seem to be falling off, but I want to be a good cat owner and be responsible unlike the other guy.

Okay I got a puppy from a family that locked it in the basement and neglected it. It was skinny but it wasn't in terrible condition or anything. It seems the only thing it was starved of is attention. It's a great dog, it's maybe 6 months to a year old. The only problem is that when I call her over and go to pet her, she cowers down and urinates, wether she's inside or out. I've been taking her outside and trying to teach her not to pee when she recives attention, I'd walk towards her and reach out to her and if she squats down I ignore her and dont pet her, and if she stands there and doesnt assume the bathroom position then I pet her and praise her. I also call her to me and do the same. That's all I can think to do for now until I can get her to the vet. I'm only 17 so I gotta get my paycheck from my uncle before I can take her to the vet but I'm thinking she might have an overactive bladder or something. Any suggestions?

Okay... this is sort of a stupid question but I'm a little worried. Since I got my iguana a little while back he has been not eating, the only thing keeping him alive was my force feeding. It was a number of months and he wasn't growing or eating. finally about a month ago he started to eat on a daily basis and has even started to grow a little. Now I think it's ready for the next step. I decided to start a long term taming commitment yesterday now that he is eating. I held him yesterday for say an hour and fed him today hoping to hold him again after he eats. I'm a little afraid that he didn't eat because of new stress levels and that if I keep holding him daily he might not eat again. Should I continue holding him daily? Will he eat? OR should I wait until he is older and more used to his new eating habit?

There are several people in here who "tell it like it is" and they are acused of being rude or abusive? Now why is that? Do you not want to know the truth? Do you only want us to agree that you have done the right thing, even though you didn't?

Here are some answers that are not rude, but will answer most of the questions in here:

No, there is no home remedy for Parvo. Either get a vet to treat your dog, or be prepared for its death.

No, it is not a good idea to breed your dog. If you are in here asking questions, you haven't done nearly enough research.

If your dog isn't acting normally, call your vet. They can tell you what to do better than we can.

We don't know you or your dog, therefore, we don't care what you name it!

Are there any questions that I missed? What do the rest of you think?

I recently took my cat to the vet after she was acting strange. He took blood samples and found she was poison by a flea powder that contain pyrethrin. He recommended we force feed her to help her out. Anything else that will speed up the process of getting rid of the poison in her system.

I am only a college student living on my own i can not afford to take him to a vet. He is liter trained and i dont want it to get infected. he was pulling at his claws the past 2 nights and i found blood this morning, when i looked i saw he had puled the nail all the way off. i see a little tip in there still but it smells very bad so i used peroxide to clean it and put neosporin and wrapped it all up like a cast, but it still smells. how can i treat him?

I live in the Los Angeles Area and my friend needs to take his large dog, Rottweiler/Chow mix to a shelter. I have been trying very hard to help find a no kill shelter, but have had no luck. Does anyone know where he can take this dog? He is probably unadoptable because of his size. He just moved here from Texas where he had 2 acres and he now lives in a townhouse and can't keep him. He is so sad.
