Okay... this is sort of a stupid question but I'm a little worried. Since I got my iguana a little while back he has been not eating, the only thing keeping him alive was my force feeding. It was a number of months and he wasn't growing or eating. finally about a month ago he started to eat on a daily basis and has even started to grow a little. Now I think it's ready for the next step. I decided to start a long term taming commitment yesterday now that he is eating. I held him yesterday for say an hour and fed him today hoping to hold him again after he eats. I'm a little afraid that he didn't eat because of new stress levels and that if I keep holding him daily he might not eat again. Should I continue holding him daily? Will he eat? OR should I wait until he is older and more used to his new eating habit?

I didn't feel like writing this but it looks like I have to. I am an animal enthusiast mostly reptiles though. I know what I am doing. I had a vet check it had no health issues. On a seperate occasion I had a fecal and parasitic test and they were proven negative. The cage is 6x2x4 feet with pleantly of climbing platforms and chicken mesh wall for climbing. Outside of the mesh is plexiglass wall retain heat and humidity. His basking area is at 100 degrees on average and he is misted daily. I feed him a mix of Butternut Squash, collard greens, pear, apple, mango, carrot and squash daily. I soak him in the tub daily but he does have a dish deep enough for soaking himself. Uhhhh I can't remember whatelse he asked...

I'm not an expert with Iguanas, but I do know a place that has great info:

A reputable veterinary website that has great info on taming and socializing iguanas as well as feeding and care.

You don't mention his health checkup and habitat. Has he been checked for intestinal parasites? Very important asap!
Does he have a large cage?
A pool of water big enough to soak in?
A heat lamp with a temp of 100F at the basking spot?
Cooler on the other side of the cage?
A UVB bulb on for 12 hours a day and within 12 inches of the basking spot? Bulb changed every 6 months?
A proper "salad" made of fresh vegies/fruits/alfalfa pellets/vitamins every morning?

I would get him 100% healthy and eating like a pig before stressing him with handling.
