Wacky: I am giving the TCP raisin treatment a go. If that doesn't work we may have to try the PCP soaked worms.

There's nothing wrong with this. If you love Igor and he loves you, that's all that really matters. Good luck to both of you!

Has your blackbird just been afflicted by the baldness? It could be that he is going through the Moult! It could be mite infection?one way to get rid of these is you say he likes raisins try this Soak some raisins in a very dilute solution of T.C.P.1 teaspoon to 1/2pt.warm water let them soak overnight then mix a few each day with his regular feed if it is mite then this will get rid of them I once had the same problem when breeding in my collection of birds and this cured the problem.

I think it is because of some kind of parasite infection as the head and neck are the only areas that the bird cannot groom with its beak. No idea what to do about though as you can hardly catch the bird and put flea powder on it.
Superb by RV by the way. Seems to be at the top of his game right now.

I've seen one or two balding blackbirds around here, and they've all been males. Maybe it's the stress of being a man??

the male blackbirds in my garden have bald heads as well ours are tame and come in the house asking for food, they are funny things and great entertainment if i don't put the food out they come and tap on the window, this baldness is normal.

You need to ask a vet. It could be just a bald spot, or it could be a health problem. And if he wasn't born in captivity or kept as a pet since a chic, I think you need to let it go.

My wife and I laughed and laughed at this one.
The TCP one - really funny.
This is so much more rewarding than TV.
Good Luck with the bald bird.

Blackbird baldness is caused by too much
"singin' in the dead of night,."
This can be addressed with a simple cage cover you can buy for four dollah at the Petsmart store.
And you'll BOTH sleep better.

I have pet birds and usually a bald spot means that it has a fungus, mites, or simply a bald spot.
