i'm thinking of getting one...whats the average price? how are allergies with them? personalities? will a rex kitten and my 4 year old siamese get along? siamese is a male, should i be looking for a female or male rex?
and what the difference between a cornish rex and a devon rex? are these the only types of rex cats?

Any info AT ALL would help soo much, even if i didn't put type it out...thanks so much!

I have one male betta fish in a 10 gallon tank with an air pump, filter, and heater. What are some fish that will live with him without any problems? Please give me full, descriptive answers. That would be most appreciated.

I adopted two females last year (one Siamese and one Tabby). They were living outside in the cold, and not getting much to eat. I brought them inside, and fed them.
Then made a room for them to sleep in, with a nice, clean bed. They have been well taken care of for about the last 9 months in my home. They were pregnant, and had six kittens altogether. We gave three of them away, and have three left that we plan to keep. But the mommas have to go. We just can't afford to feed them anymore. Local animal shelters have no vacancy, and I'm afraid the Humane Society might just euthanize them, as they are a bit skittish around strangers. What can I do?

Seriously, I will wake up sometimes with a mouth full of hair. Or I will start suffocating in the middle of the night and wake up to find this tremendous weight on my nose. Why do cats do this? I tried sleeping on my side and it doesn't matter. Sometimes even the neighbor's cats break in through the basement and sleep on top of me. What's the deal?

My dog sleeps downstairs and I sleep upstairs. This is because she has a bladder problem and if she sees me in the mrning when she wakes up she will get excited and pee before I can take her outside. But she is usually fine with sleeping downstairs. I'll say goodnite to her and she'll go lay down and sleep the whole nite. For the past three nights she has been sitting at the bottom of the stairs crying, whining and yelping. All NIGHT LONG. I don't know how to get her to go to sleep and stay. She just won't listen. When I leave the house she barks and cries. SHe didn't start this until three days ago. ANy tips on how I can get her to stop this?

My mother passed away 6 months ago. I inherited her 4 cats. Two of them are brothers and they just turned 7 years old and aren't much trouble. The other 2 are around 15 or 16 and have problems. Both older one have lost most of their teeth and are very dirty. I have 6 litter boxes and the older ones go anywhere but in the boxes. I clean up about 5 pounds of kitty doodles each week from under sofas and behind other furniture. There are probably wet spots too that I don't know about. The house STINKS! They have literally runied the carpets in the house and probably the floors underneath. But I feel like I would be betraying them and also my mother to have them put to sleep for these reasons. They really aren't very sick considering their age. I'm in a quandary here - I need an impartial opinion or advice.

We have a Boxer-sharpei who barks at strangers approaching our home like he is going to tear their throat out. He growls (no teeth), takes an aggressive stance and pretty much scares the bejeezus out of whoever happens to be passing. The kicker is that if the person is brave enough to get close to him he immediately calms down and becomes submissive, rolling onto his back and pawing. I hate this because I don't want people to think he's a mean dog. I usually try to laugh it off and tell him that's no way to make friends, but he insists on acting like a tough guy. He's not aggressive at all. If he were, there is no way we would keep him around with two small children as even nice dogs can be unpredictable.

My question is, what causes this behaivor and is there anything I can do to correct it. We've tried firm "no"'s, tugs on his chain etc. I'm just at a loss. I caught the poor UPS guy near our door scared crapless throwing doggie bones at him.

I went to the pet shop today, and they had amazing angelfish similar to this one
http://www.geocities.com/shadowsoftherainforest/Angelfish.gif

Would paring that with a fish small fish be okay? On the tank, it said that the angelfish may get up to 6 inches. The other fish would MAYBE be 2 inches at most. The tanks are all marking with a letter, and if the tanks have the same letter, then those fish are potentially compatible. I'd definitely use that method to pick the other small fish.

I went to my local fish store and they told me real plants were much better for the fish than fake ones. So i bought the easiest ones to care for. I planted them in my aquarium and they were doing fine at first. Now they've all turned Yellow or brown and are dead except one of them ( i bought 5).

I use a weekly plant solution,
I keep my aquarium light on for exactly 10 hours a day,
and I keep my aquarium very clean.

Please help me before every one of my plants die!!!!

Her name is Sophie and although we haven't been owned by her for very long, she means the world to us especially my 6 year old son. She is currently at a pet hospital (has been since yesterday) and everything looks good so far. I will know more tonight and believe me I have a list of questions for the Vet. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a dog with this and how their quality of life has been. Sophie had no prior symptoms before the incident that prompted us the seek medical attention, I think it may have been brought on by stress(she went for a haircut because the heat where I live was bothering her, vet said it was okay to do it) or possibly a reaction to the shampoo the groomer used.
I have been told that it is a genetic *disease* but I feel totally responsible for it happening because I got her hair cut. And here I thought I was helping her :(

ever since i left him home alone without him in a crate he acts more independent now... its not a bad thing its actually good that hes not so clingy and scared alone... lately he doesn't bark, bite, follow anymore he actually sleeps A LOT and he's not as hyper anymore... i've had him since he was 2 1/2 months and now he's almost 5 months... is this the age he becomes more mature? its just strange to me because he's not the same hyper clingy puppy i had last week... he eats fine so i don't think he's sick

I got a new fish tank on sunday. I put two of my guppies in the tank yesterday to see if the water was safe for my other fish. Then today i put six more guppies in the tank and one of my males died right away. So i took them back out of the new tank and put them in a small bowl so more didnt die. Do you think i should get the water checked or do you think it was just bad timing. Maybe i hit it with the net when i caught him. I dont want to keep stressing my fish out so i dont know what to do? HELP!

My Collie Mix, Casey, is about 97 in dog years. She constantly yelps and twitches, and I know dogs do that in their sleep. But her eyes are open when she does it, and she's always staring at me. It really scares me, I think she's having a heart attack. It just started a few days ago, and it happens about 6 times a day. She has cataracts and arthritis in her hips. Is she dying? Here's a picture:

Please help, she's my best friend ever! :(

My mom got a new job, and my dad died, so she doesn't have time to take poor little Casey to the vet.

Ok I have emailed MM on this but I'd like to get other sources of input. I'm planning out a new monster tank because I'm going to house Arowana with lower level cichlids. I got my prices for a 150 vs a 180 set up. Difference in pricing is about $200.00 which really means nothing to me overall. I just feel why pay for something if you really don't need it. Dimension on 150 is 72 x 18 x 28 and the 180 is 72 x 24 x 24. Arowana's do get to be big lengths, and this should be sufficient for that, but I'm worried about the turning radius. I can't go for a 210 or higher due to weight stability and transportation issues where I am at so it's a 180 or 150. What are my benefits outside of extra turning radius in a 180 if I elect to go with this vs the 150 which is about $200.00 lower in price for the set up.

Before tax, tank, stand, hooding and lighting are:

150 gallon set up : $754.00
180 gallon set up: $948.00

Best choice?

Yesterday and now today, my dog has had diarrhea. She never goes inside the house but now she has been waiting until I leave the room to go with this diarrhea. She's an eight year old Border Collie mix. What should I do? I called the vet and am going to make an appointment today once I know when I can get there but is there anything I should do now? I'm nervous about her but she seems to be acting fine, other than the diarrhea. The vet didn't tell me anything I should do when I called. I just want to do whatever is best to make sure she is okay before I can get to the vet.
