Dogs don't have sex for pleasure, they do it simply to procreate. When dogs are humping it is a way for them to try to show you that they're the boss. Once he gets a little more trained and learns his place in the family it should stop. By the way, neutering won't help this problem.

Adolescent dogs, just like adolescent humans, will try out a lot of things. Your puppy is trying out dominance behaviour on you, it's very rude of him, but completely normal. You need to show him that this is not acceptable behaviour. Give him a firm "no!", grab him collar or scruff get him off you. Praise him as soon as he as all four paws planted on the floor.
Consequent training and a no-nonsense attitude should take care of the problem pretty fast, some pups only need a few corrections before they get it.

Could be a dominance thing. My 8 month old female puppy likes to "hump" her teddys. Apparently it's the puppy showsing that they rank higher in the family than the teddy!

It's normal but try to tell your dog not to hump your arm or leg it can become an habit and some of your guest might find it disgusting. It could be an act of dominance to so take your dog to train show your dog that your the leader.

It's natural and male dogs exhibit this behaviour as young as 7weeks old. At 5months [depending on his breed] he is nearing adolecence and at around 9months old most dogs are sexually mature. The best bet is to have him neutered which will reduce the behaviour considerably. Tell him no loudly and firmly every time he attempts to mount you and put him in a seperate room for 5-10mins to calm down. Some male dogs dont show this behaviour atall, my entire male dog who is 17months has never attempted it, but alot do.

Yea, my dog started about that age too. Just tell him no and push him off when he does it. I would recommend getting him neutered about that age too. It very well could be a dominance thing, but neutering him will stop it anyway.

puppies are sexually mature early in life. the best thing would be to get him neutered as soon as possible so it will stop. if you wait to get him neutered till he's older he might keep his habits even if you eventually get him neutered.
if you absolutely cannot get him neutered you need to train him to stop as soon as possible, as most people don't like it.

Put him on the floor and hold him down for a minute. That way he knows that you are dominant.

he is a young teenager adn he has his harmones just starting to rge. You can get him neutered now and this would help before it gets to bad.
As well as it could prevent numerous types of cancer.

my dog started humping at 8mnths. old
they just do it
its not really a why
they start whenever they get temptations
i guess it also depends on how "freaky" the breed is
