If you use frontline from the vet then you cant give your cat a bath for a certin period of time. You need to vaccum the house everyday to keep the fleas down. Maybe put out white bowls with water in them because the fleas are atracted to light colors and then they jump in the bowl and drowned. If not you might have to spray your house and you can get that from a vet also.

What I do with my cats which seems to work is, give them a bath (flea shampoo as directed) once dry spray the cats coat with specialised cat flea spray (get it from a pet shop), then the flea drops and then a flea collar. I know that might sound a bit tedious but it's thorough and also get a flea bomb (an aerosol - available from most pet shops) and use one in every room your cat has access to also wash pet bedding and soft furnishings, regularly check your cat for fleas/flea dirt (comb it once a week) and retreat when needed. Hope you find this useful.

i have just had to deal with fleas on my cat. do not use sprays or powders from the supermarket as they don't really work that well. get some frontline from your vet which has to be put on every 4 weeks. Also buy some carpet spray from your vet, completely spray all the carpets before you go to work and then hoover them when you come back. make sure all cushions, bedding, cats bedding is washed and precaution if cat sleeps on bed hoover your matress. You can even cut up a flea collar and put it in the bag or bagless cylinder of your hoover. I know this all sounds dramatic but a flea on a cat can drop eggs into your carpet. Also make sure you comb your cat everynight with a flea comb. Your cat could also just be picking them up from outside.

If you don't want to use the products from the vet or pet store, you should look up a company called Maleluca(sp?) they have products that are natural, family/pet friendly, & very effective.
Also, since your pet does or did have fleas, you have them in your household. Consider a treatment for your home to kill the fleas. After which you can control them by simply vaccuming regularly.
Let me know if you have any additional questions. I have a lot of experience in this area. Good luck!

When my kitten had fleas i was going to use frontline because nearly everyone recommends it but i decided to try some tablets called Johnsons 4 fleas first ,they were great within a couple of hours the fleas were jumping off, there's no side affects either.Your local pet shop will sell them..They cost under £5.

use either stronghold or advantage as frontline no longer works here in the uk. you need to use zodiac a can will do an average three bedroom house. i give my cats brewers yeast 1/2 to 1 teaspoon in their food, fleas don't like the taste. you will need to treat the cat and the house including all soft furnishings etc to rid your self of the problem

You'll need to shampoo or steam clean the carpet and the beddings, since larvae can live for a very long time on pet dander and dust. You can also add some brewer's yeast to your cat's food (and dogs, too), which makes your pet give off an odor which fleas hate (won't affect your sense of smell).

Advantage works really well. The cat may still be picking fleas up from outside and bringing them in. So he/she may not have fleas, what may be happening is that the fleas are jumping on him/her and then jumping off because of the treatment.
Theres nothing you can do to stop this except to flea bomb your house to kill the fleas that are there and the ones that come in.

Stronghold is best flea treatment on the market, only available through the vet. Make sure you treat bedding and furtniture and carpets too. That may be why you're getting a reinfection situation.

Frontline and Advantage top-spot applications will work on the cat's fleas. On you, they are a different problem! Check the Web for a good remedy for humans! (Eating garlic is supposed to help!)
