Is my Collie mix dying?

My Collie Mix, Casey, is about 97 in dog years. She constantly yelps and twitches, and I know dogs do that in their sleep. But her eyes are open when she does it, and she's always staring at me. It really scares me, I think she's having a heart attack. It just started a few days ago, and it happens about 6 times a day. She has cataracts and arthritis in her hips. Is she dying? My mom got a new job, and my dad died, so she doesn't have time to take poor little Casey to the vet.

Well your pet sure is a cutie pie! The only way to be sure is to take her to a vet or at least to call the vet. There's no way to know if it's seizures or just an old doggie playing fetch in her sleep without a visit to the vet. I would watch her eating and drinking habits, and make sure she is getting enough to eat and drink. I wish there was more I could offer you by way of advice, but the vet really is the best answer. It sounds like Casey might be having seizures. At her age she could have so many problems. She's probably in alot of pain, and the only way to help her is to take her to the vet. Many vets are open late on certain nights and have Saturday hours. If your Mom could get her an appointment as soon as possible that's the best thing to do. There are also emergency vet centers that stay open 24 hours but that will cost more. Please try to get her help soon, this sounds serious and it she could end up dying.

I would try to get a vet to come and visit your house. It can usually be arranged. Just ask the vet if they do at home checkups. As far as her age, she is old. But this is the way that they go. you've obviously taken good care of her, and she looks very cute and in great condition for her age.
