My Collie Mix, Casey, is about 97 in dog years. She constantly yelps and twitches, and I know dogs do that in their sleep. But her eyes are open when she does it, and she's always staring at me. It really scares me, I think she's having a heart attack. It just started a few days ago, and it happens about 6 times a day. She has cataracts and arthritis in her hips. Is she dying? Here's a picture:

Please help, she's my best friend ever! :(
My mom got a new job, and my dad died, so she doesn't have time to take poor little Casey to the vet.

It sounds like she is having seizures, a sezuire is a very upleasant sight. It is very fringhtenin for you and your pet. When your dog starts a seizure make sure she is in a padded, confined ares so she cant injure herself. You need to try to keep calm and observe what she does duerin the seizure. A VETERINARIAN SHOULD BE CONTACTE IMMEDIATELY. He will want to kow how long the seizure is and what your dog is doing. I she panting, paddling her feet, loosing control of bladder and bowels etc.? If a seizure lasts for over 5 mins or if there are numerous seizures in a short period of time, like it has happened, it can be life threatening

A heart attack would kill the dog. It sounds like she's having seizures - these are most common in collie-type dogs. It does need controlling with medication or it can lead to death - plus as you say, it's very distressing to witness. There can be a few reasons why epilepsy may suddenly develop - given that the dog is old and the onset is sudden, I would think there is an underlying condition here. She really does need to go to the vets - a dog this old (is she about 14?) needs regular checkups anyway.
You need to convince your mom to MAKE time to take this dog to the vet. She doesn't work 24/7 presumably? If she realised how serious this was, she would make time. Tell her your elderly dog is likely having seizures, and it's unfair on her to leave her to suffer like this. I know your mom has a lot on, but it doesn't change the fact that she's a pet owner who has responsibilities to fulfill. These just don't go away during hard times/

Well your pet sure is a cutie pie! The only way to be sure is to take her to a vet or at least to call the vet. There's no way to know if it's seizures or just an old doggie playing fetch in her sleep without a visit to the vet. I would watch her eating and drinking habits, and make sure she is getting enough to eat and drink. I wish there was more I could offer you by way of advice, but the vet really is the best answer. I am so sorry for the loss of your father, and hope your best friend stays around a lot longer for you to enjoy.

It sounds like Casey might be having seizures. At her age she could have so many problems. She's probably in alot of pain, and the only way to help her is to take her to the vet. Many vets are open late on certain nights and have Saturday hours. If your Mom could get her an appointment as soon as possible that's the best thing to do. There are also emergency vet centers that stay open 24 hours but that will cost more. Please try to get her help soon, this sounds serious and it she could end up dying.

It sounds like she is having seizures, along with some arthritis - get her to a vet, but if she is as old as you say she is, I don't think there is too much a vet can do for her. Good luck. BTW - she is beautiful - is that a recent pic of her? If so, she looks in great shape!

I would try to get a vet to come and visit your house. It can usually be arranged. Just ask the vet if they do at home checkups. As far as her age, she is old. But this is the way that they go. you've obviously taken good care of her, and she looks very cute and in great condition for her age.
Good Luck!

Wow. I've heard of dog seizures. You need to take her to a vet ASAP! If you don't she will die soon. There is the chance that you waited too long and it might be best for you to just put her down. As hard as that is, it may be best for her.

I think the best thing will be to go to your vet. There is no reason to wait as the condition is going on for several days.
Ask your vet about heartwormes...It has the similar symptoms, but your vet will know better.
