I adopted two females last year (one Siamese and one Tabby). They were living outside in the cold, and not getting much to eat. I brought them inside, and fed them.
Then made a room for them to sleep in, with a nice, clean bed. They have been well taken care of for about the last 9 months in my home. They were pregnant, and had six kittens altogether. We gave three of them away, and have three left that we plan to keep. But the mommas have to go. We just can't afford to feed them anymore. Local animal shelters have no vacancy, and I'm afraid the Humane Society might just euthanize them, as they are a bit skittish around strangers. What can I do?

DO NOT put an ad in the paper advertising "free cats". That is how lab animals wind up in laboratories.
Call your local animal shelter, the Humane Society, and local veterinarians, and locate a cat rescuer. Just ask if they can give you the name and number of someone who rescues cats, because you have a couple of cats that need rescuing. Oftentimes veterinarians will take animals in and keep them in their offices until someone comes in and sees them and adopts them. You can also post a flier in the local pet supply stores: "Adorable kitties need new home." And also at church or temple or whatever. You want to bring them to the attention of people who like animals and who are "nice" people, who are responsible and will probably take good care of your two ladies.

well first of all im very sorry that happened. But since there is no vacancy at the animal shelter you should try giving your cats to a friend. Or sell one of them so you have enough money for the other one. What ever you end up doing though make sure you find good homes for them. I hope i helped a little.

Do you have friends who might adopt them? Can you make a flier and take it to the local vet's offices?
Why don't you keep the mamas, give away the kittens, and have the adults spayed? That way there would be no more kittens.
You know, those 3 kittens will grow up as well, and if you say you can't afford to feed 2 adult females, how will you feed 3?

I'm not sure what kind of an owner would keep 3 kittens and then get rid of the mom's. You don't sound like a decent pet owner to me.
If the 3 kittens are young enough, you should be able to find them good, loving homes.
Keep the mom's and get them spayed.
You don't just desert a pet. A pet is a committment for life. (all of their life, not just for a few years here and there).

I had to get rid of one of two cats about a month ago..and I had the same thoughts..
Solution: Go (call) to area Pets Mart locations and see who handles their animal adoption centers. You will need to speak with this person directly (not an employee there) about where they get their pets from. They only take cats from adoption centers or rescue missions. Someone will more than likely take them for you- we dropped ours off at a vet clinic to be spayed (for free)- and it will be sent to a Pets Mart adoption and the money goes to rescued animals!

It would be much better to keep the mothers (and have them fixed) and give away the kittens, because it's relatively easy to find homes for kittens. It's not easy to find homes for adults.
PLEASE keep the adults. That way, you also already know their personalities, and they will `warm up' to you even more as they get to know you better.
I'm speaking as someone who has worked with several rescue groups for many years.

Oh specific! all the time lol, it makes me bounce up with fright and ask for forgiveness (cats call) and then I realize it is basically between the cats rubber balls that i'm stepping on. it is so humorous whilst that happens! lol

drop an ad in the paper advertising free "farm cats" put "good mousers" and "tame" in there, and you will get them a nice home in a barn somewhere, like where they were before you, except with steady food.

why don't you put ads up everywhere? do not put them in a place where they can get killed, because that will haunt you forever!!!!!!!!!!!
