to totally different pets. snakes are amazing reptiles that need special care. depending on species some snakes can grow from 5 in- 30 ft. if you want a snake you must be sure you can provide proper care for it, like heat lamps, underheater, proper sized enclosure, constantly needed supply of rats or mice, bedding, water bowl, a hide, and braches. these are great animals wich could be harmless and tame to fierce and dangerous. they arent just any animal you can decide you want one day theyneed thinking over.

its also not a matter of being cool to. this is something i dont like when ppl want pets. the pet should be ne that will will properly be able to care for. remember that.

turtles need constant care. you also have to make sure water supply is always up. you also have to maintain them a lot more.

i would suggest a snake because i have had snakes all my life, but if you are new to repiles then get a turtle. because you may not know how to properly care for a snake but if u think your ready and thought it over then go for it. btw, friends will be more impressed by a snake then a turtle lol.

well, snakes dont poo as much, and need less general maintenance, turtles are much more likely to transmit bacteria to you that is harmful, the best place for a turtle is free, i relocate snakes, and never kill them, as a pet i have a black rat snake, and he is feisty, but kingsnakes are great, and even tempered, snakes have personalities as well, and if you don't have a lot of social time for a pet, then a snake is right for you, setting up a snake tank is pricey, but unless you buy a big boid, turtles are much more costlier, get a milksnake, or a corn snake, they are cool looking, they top out at 5 feet and only need mice and clean water, and a hidey box on the warm half and the cold half, and a piece of astro turf, now total up those costs, then total up the price of new filters for a fish tank at one per month for one year, and tell me what you think.

Well I have had a lot of turtles and they start to stink after awhile even if you keep them clean. I have had snakes to and had more fun with them. I would go with the snake.

Personally, I would say that a turtle is better than a snake. They are easier to take care of & Feed. They have many choices of things they can eat. They are also cheaper to take care of =). I have a red eared slider. He's adorable. & makes a good pet.
