He's a really small dog, he's about 8-10 pounds and he's a Yorkshire terrier, he's a puppy of 9 months of age. I found him eating a silica gel package, luckily only one, but what should I do and what hazards are there for him eating Silica gel?

I am pet sitting my mother's russian tortoise. I've had it for just over a week and I haven't noticed it eat anything since I got it. I know it doesn't touch the fresh veggies. It will drink if I take it out of it's house and plop it in the water, which I do once a day. I have now noticed that it is covered with tiny tiny white bugs. They seem to be mainly in the folds of skin and the cracks on the underside of the shell. What can I do about this and how much of an emergency is this?

I've had my cat who is now 15 months old since he was 6 weeks old. He has always had extremely strong urine and feces. The smell is nearly unbearable. We've tried Dad's food that is supposed to help with Urinary Tracts but it did not affect it. Is there any brand of food that is good at combatting this? We bought a covered litter box to cut down on the smell and clean it daily but it's still terrible. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a 1 year old cat who has suffered from chronic urinary infections due to crystals etc. The vet placed her on a special diet as well as antibiotics to clear the infections and is on distilled water. Here is the problem: When she is on the antibiotic she goes in the litter box but once she is done with the antibiotic she starts to urinate on any items left on the floor (ie: towels, shirts etc). I am so upset because we cannot go on this way. She has had 4 rounds of antibiotics and nothing is helping. I give her the special cat food as well as distilled water. What else can I do. Do I need to put her down??? I am so upset by this but I do not know what is left for me to do. HELP!!! I love her and want to keep her but I have already spent a ton on her.

i have a 2.5gallon tank, it came with a thing on the top that has a light and a filter which sucks water up through a plastic tube and cycles it back through the other end. My question is how good are these filters compared to other types of filter? And what other choices do i have for my tank filter?

i am new to this so i also need to know how to clean these filters and how often i need to change the little plastic balls and the carbon. i heard these filters also increase the nitrate levels if not treated properly.

Ok, here's the deal, my three adult tank goldfish have mated, I removed them as soon as I realized what was happening. (They are now very happy in the backyard pond. It's like the ocean to them.) I only have 20+ babys to take care of due to my delay in realizing what was happening in my tank, but I've read that they need to be culled at about 10 days, I don't know what to look for when culling at this point. They are still so small and are no where near resembling fish yet. They all look the same. Now when and if I do cull them what should I do with the culled fish? should I just leave them out of the water, or should I send them on a journey back to freedom down the toilet drain? I really don't know what to do. All information says to cull but never tells you what to do with them. Any information would be greatly apreciated and thanks in advance.

PS: I have a 10 gallon tank. I don't know if this is pertinent or not but figured I would add the info any way just in case.

i work in a senior center. i bring my bunny rabbit in. oh my gosh! everyone just loves her so very much she is really cute. just recently i was told by the adminstrator that i have to get papers from the vet stating that she has gotten her shots and vaccinations. i was told from the animal shelter where i adopted her. that she didnt need them. and that they would not give her any shots because she is a bunny rabbit.

My family is soon to purchase a puppy from a breeder that is a member of the AKC Parent Club of the Labrador Retriever. Should this mean that she is trustworthy? The puppies seem healthy enough, but we want to know for sure that she is a good breeder.

I have a yellow-eared slider, and lately he's been acting strange. He lays out and refuses to eat, swim, or do really anything. When I hold him, his head lolls wheerever I turn him, as if he has no control over it. He sticks his head out and takes deep rasping breaths, and doesn't open his eyes a lot. He's shedding, it seems, as his skin is peeling. I tried to feed him some raw hamburger, and he tries to eat it, but can't manage with his rasping. What is there I can do? Is he dying, and if so, how can I ease his pain?
