If you are talking about a large mouthed long barbelled catfish it is a preditor that also is a scavenger though they mostly eat fish. If you are talking about a suckermouthed catfish like a plecostomous they are algae/vegetable eaters. Some driftwood in the tank for them is very helpful as well. If you are talking about corys or similar catfish they eat a lot of tiny crustations, nematodes and all sorts of other small things that have fallen to the bottom of the tank. There are catfish that eat just about everything so please let us know which type you have and we can be more helpful.

That depends on what kind of cat fish you are talking about.
Tank kept cat fish will eat pellets, flakes, brine shrimp or just about anything you place in the tank. Some also live on algae and veggies.
Lake and river cats detritivores as well as omnivores and will eat minnows and small fish, worms, salamanders, small frogs, snakes, decaying fish matter as well as roots from plants just to name a few.
Ocean catfish will eat annelid worms, marine snails, mussels, clams, squids, crustaceans, insects, birds, amphibians, small mammals, and other fishes as well as plankton

My corydora cat fish eat tropical fish food, frozen brine shrimp, and blood worms and I also give them sinking wafers to make sure they get food Because there in with a few other fish. They seem very happy and health. I switch off with each food dont give it all to them in one day.

That depends on if you are talking about the catfish you buy for your tank or the ones in rivers and lakes.
Tank catfish are bottom feeders and do quite well on whatever you feed the other fish. Even flake food that floats on top, while the other fish eat at it, it will sink and the catfish will eat it.
River and lake catfish are mosatly blind so wahtever they eat is usually something that smells or was unlucky enough to swim close to the catfish's mouth. In other words, mostly anything.

They will scavenge the bottom for food. If no food sinks down there, you could buy some sinking shrimp pellets or something to feed them.

Depends on what type of catfish you are talking about, it your talking about cory's as the answer above anything else you should really find out more about its habitat and feeding, some catfish are purely predators others graze only on algae thats formed on wood, some will take live food others will take algae waters. lots of different foods for different fish.

Catfish are omnivours. They will eat anything. I used to catch them and while cleaning I'd open the stomach to find out just what they had been eating. I found turtle, moss, crayfish, minnows that kind of thing.

They can eat and ingest wood, that I know.
Some species can eat dead material on the bottom.
Most of them eat other fish though.
They eat at night.
