I got some chemical stuff that i put in that said it decreases the need to change the water to about every 6 months. I have continued to test the water regularly and every thing seems in balance. I even had some swordtails that had babies recently (one of which was even able to survive, yay!).

Is this stuff relieable?

We have about a 5 month old border collie lab and she is a very good dog for the most part. She is potty trained, she knows many tricks, but one thing that I cannot stand is her going through our garbage. We cant seem to break her of that. She sometimes even knocks the cans over and they are all over. We try to keep a close eye on her but its hard as she is a puppy and running around all the time.

My dog is being neutered on Friday. I've heard some bad things about the pain medication that you can get for your dog after you bring them home. Does anyone know what kind of medication they give dogs and if there are any possibly negative side effects? Are there different kinds of pain mediations available? What works best? Whatever the cost, I'll pay it- I just don't want him to be hurting really bad or get sick..

How do you get over the extreme pain of losing a pet? I have had alot of pets in my life but this one I just can not get over!! I feel like I lost my sister. She died yesterday from a tumor.Do you think it would be bad to get another one? I keep hearing everyone telling me to wait but I can't, I want to get another one of the same breed to help me heal from the loss of her. I am SO not trying to replace her, you can't she was unique, just my empty heart and home. Please no rude answers I'm not feeling too good!!

How do you break a bad habit?

Its all my fault and I take the full blame. We have come a long way with Bella but there is just one thing that is going on that I have to stop but I don't know how. When I first let her sleep out of the crate at night she slept on her own very cozy bed in our room. Then she started to jump in bed during the night, we were too tired to push her off. But we don't want her in the bed, I don;t know why but I just think a dog should sleep in their own bed. So what do I do to change this--I can't start her back in the crate because I know she will whine ---should I leash her to the foot of the bed to keep her where I want her? I know it was just plain stupid of me to allow her in the bed in the first place, when she was smaller I thought it was cozy but now I just want to be cozy with my husband. Go ahead, throttle me, but then give me some advice please

Is purring a deliberate act on their part, or just a reflex thing when you pet them? And how do they make the purring noise?

I thought that it, would like some beer and maltezers. So we had a lads night in, you know watching big brother with no pants on etc. Anyway, what should I tell my GF, do you think honesty is the best policy or should I start to make up some fibs?
I could blame her little brother he needs a good spanking?

I have a golden retrv that is 1 1/2 yrs, and I have had him since a pup. He chases his tail, and when he catches it, he pulls fur out and eats it. His fur is not matted, and he doesn't appear to be pulling anything else out of it. I knew another golden who did the same thing. Is it just the breed?

I have tried the static shock collars with not-so-great results. I am considering a citronella collar also, but I just need something that works. I have considered a surgical de-bark procedure, but that is expensive in addition to being semi-permanent and somewhat cruel. I want to hear about effective options about keeping my dogs quiet besides getting rid of them (it's coming to that if I can't keep them quiet).

I tell them "ENOUGH!" whenever they get started, but I have to get up 3-4 times a night and 5-6 times a day to tell them.

I probably need to find them a good home...I don't hardly have anything to do with them but feed them and tell them "ENOUGH!"

So, do muzzles actually work? If I take them to the shelter here, I may as well just shoot them myself. The shelter here is full of shepard mixes that won't find homes.

thanks for helping me think it out.

I have heard from many people that cats are seriously allergic to ivy and other house plants. I have had cats all my life and have never seen any indication of this. When I grew up my Mom always had ivy growing from pots all over the house and we currently have ivy that grows in several rooms. The cats love to play with the leaves and the long runners that the ivy puts out and will frequently chew on the vines that run along the walls. Is there any truth to the myth or have all my cats just been immune?

I have owned 3 Boxers and I really couldn't imagine owning any other dog. They have been in my family for generations and each one has had unique qualities but their lovely temperament always remains the same - barmy, mad but soooo loveable. I recently lost a 10 year old (way too early) to a brain tumour and it was absolutely devastating for all the family. I have a girl who is just over a year old and she is the first I have owned 'on my own' since I moved out of home. She is an absolute darling and I really couldn't ask for a better Boxer - apart from her occasional wantan vandalism!

I don't really have a question as such but wondered if there was anyone out there who feels the same as me about Boxers and also if there were any good forums to swap stories, pics and experiences about?
