Turtles easily get Respiratory Infections (RI's). If it gets bad, you'll have to see a vet but you can do some home care or this to see if it helps.

First- check on sites like http://www.austinsturtlepage.com or http://www.redearslider.com to make sure the basic cares are rock-solid. Temps, tank size, water quality, diet, lighting- make sure it is all good! Good temps, diet, and using a UVB light will help a lot.

Next- make sure everything is nice and clean.

Then- boost water temps a bit, but not over 85-90F. Make sure there are no drafts, etc.

Finally- leave it as alone as you can. Being handled, being stared at from too close a distance, big vibrations, etc. will cause it stress and it needs a chance to get better.

Once everything is in place, give it a few days and see if things are getting better. If they seem to be, give it a week. If things just get worse at that point, see a vet.

I agree with the first post on here. It sounds like an upper respiratory infection, you can call it a flu if you want but just know that upper respiratory infections do not usually go away on their own and are usually caused by some sort of problem with the basic husbandry. I would take your turtle to a reptile vet and while you are there you can ask about your setup and care. I would defiantely find out why he got sick as well as getting him the help he needs to get better. Good luck to you.

You need to take it to the vet. It sounds like it has an upper respiratory infection. It will probably need antibiotics.
