Yes Gerbils do breed, and they do so very often. Chances are that if your two gerbils have been living together then your female is already pregnant. The best thing to do ,unless you want to have tons of babies, is put the male gerbil in another tank, and wait and see if you end up with babies. A gerbil is only pregnant for around 28 days. If you do end up with gerbil pups you will have to learn how to tell the difference between male and female by the time they are six weeks old or they could start breeding together also. You can leave the females in with the mom so that she will have company and put all the little boy pups together .

Only if they are married because unless they are married then everyone knows they cannot bread or breed even. Nice spelling mistake what did they teach you in English? And what did they teach you in Biology!!? C'mon this is a trcik question right - unless your Gerbils are of an alternative sexual persuasion or suffering infertility for some reason you're going to have a lot of gerbils on your hands if you let them carry on living together! And too right about separating the babies my friend thought she had two lady bunny rabbits....and then made a mistake with the sex of the babies and now her garage is no longer home to a car. Good Luck Gerbil Lady!!

If you have a male and female in the same cage then Yes they will breed. If you let it get out of hand then very soon you will have WAY MORE then 2 gerbils.

You might ask them this question. They might tell you they don't like each other. Or on the other hand tell you that you couldn't have picked a better mate. Of course, they will breed when the time is right.
