I have 2 Boxer puppies(6months and a year old) and I am 22 weeks pregnant. The dogs are really good, but they are extremely hyper by nature...and are always jumping...will they be okay around the new baby???

What's your dog's "show name"? How'd you pick it?

My cat somehow managed to break one of his back claws and its still attached but bent forward and bleeding. I'm wondering what I can do for him hopefully without having to take him to a vet. is there something I could put on it or anything? any advice would be great...thanks!

Is there a way to scientifically determine what breeds have mixed to create a particular mutt?

I'm NOT interested in actually doing this. I'm just wondering if it's possible.

When i take my 6yr old King Charles Spaniel runs in the car she gets VERY exctied and yelps the whole way there!! she sounds as though she is being punched and won't stop whinging and yelping which makes me dread taking her anywhere. I have tried feeding her treats and once she finished a whole bag of doggy chocolate during the whole journey. This actually worked as it kept her mind off the ride but i would like to be able to take her on runs with me alone and not always have to ask someone along just to hold her as she jumps all over the car also. Any suggestions on how to stop her from doing this? Does this sound as though she is scared or excited? I'm not sure... It can be very embarrassing when we reach our destination ie; the beach as everyone hears her and stares at us :-(

We have a cat-he is three years old, never had another pet with him. I was at the shelter and there were tons of kittens that needed homes and I would really like to adopt one but am afraid they will not get along. Any suggestions?

how come people don't do the research first? Do you think it's an impulse buy? The cuteness of the puppy? The sad faces in the shelter? Or is it the idea of having a dog but not realizing the reality of it? I'll admit that I've jumped into things over my head before but nothing that involved the care of another living being. I don't understand the logic in that. Could someone give some insight please?

I am getting a new dog sometime within the next couple of weeks. I have been looking online for a checklist of some sort of things that I will need for her. She is a pointer mix. I know that I'll need food and what-not, but I also know that there are most likely some things I haven't thought of. Can you guys help me out?

I grew up with German Shepherds & Terriers, & we always prized our dogs for their sharp minds, telepathic ways, & almost uncanny sense of "being human".

Now, I'd like to adopt my first (& possibly second) dog of my own. I prefer sweet, affectionate, fragile-looking little dogs- these qualities in addition to intelligence.

I love the look of IGs, & all of the reading that I've done on them seems to match up with the "type of dog" that would be good with my own personality/ living situation (large apt, 2 cats, & I'd walk the dogs twice a day).

My only concern here is.. intelligence. Of course, all of the websites praise the minds of IGs, b/c they're trying to sell IGs. But I'd like an unbiased appraisal here, preferably from someone who has had enough exposure to IGs & Shepherds/Terriers to be able to compare their intellectual capacities.

Do you think I'd be happy w/ the intellect of IGs?

Any *kind* info will be appreciated. Thanks!

My sons recieved a 2 gallon tank for xmas with no heater, and a cheesy filter system. It's a decent little starter set up I guess. I keep it about 70 in the house (no lower!) and the water would be about the same. The light also heats it a little. I know quite a bit about fish since I grew up with them, but it's been years since I've kept them.

Would a school of neons or zebras do ok without heat? How about some platys, mollys or swordtails? What about a catfish or alge eater? Any other exotic kinds that could do good in such a small, colder tank? How many would be a good number to keep? I'd rather stay away from goldfish, and I can't have two male betas. I can't have any agressive fish either (ie, barbs, oscars, etc.) since I have 2 sons, and have to have at least 2 fish.

I just need suggestions as to what would be good fish for a cold 2 gallon (non heated but about 70 deg.) tank, besides goldfish and betas.
Thank you in advance for your help!
;o)

I would like to know a lot about my rat terrier puppy (training, feeding, behavior, playfulness ..Etc)
We just got two rat terrier puppies from someone who sold them in the ad. i took two of them (don’t worry they will not be together to fight and do the whole wolf pack thing, i have to keep them apart because its starting already. but they do know I’m the alpha =) my friend comes to get her's on first. However the puppies are 8 weeks old and have not seen a vet yet! I was lied to the women said she would send me paperwork on the puppies I tried calling and going there but no answer. Just yesterday one of the puppies gagged out a round worm so I know I need to take him to the vet ASAP, but I have to wait until tomorrow. Can someone please tell me a little about what I will need any paperwork’s? (Because I don’t have any)….Some of the questions that would be asked? Maybe an estimate of the cost for BOTH? What will my puppies have to go through?

-Syetta - thank you =)
