I would like to know a lot about my rat terrier puppy (training, feeding, behavior, playfulness ..Etc)
We just got two rat terrier puppies from someone who sold them in the ad. i took two of them (don’t worry they will not be together to fight and do the whole wolf pack thing, i have to keep them apart because its starting already. but they do know I’m the alpha =) my friend comes to get her's on first. However the puppies are 8 weeks old and have not seen a vet yet! I was lied to the women said she would send me paperwork on the puppies I tried calling and going there but no answer. Just yesterday one of the puppies gagged out a round worm so I know I need to take him to the vet ASAP, but I have to wait until tomorrow. Can someone please tell me a little about what I will need any paperwork’s? (Because I don’t have any)….Some of the questions that would be asked? Maybe an estimate of the cost for BOTH? What will my puppies have to go through?

-Syetta - thank you =)

They will get a check up the vet will listen for heart murmurs or any breathing issues in the lungs. He will check the palate for any birth defect and a general over all feel of the bone structure. Make sure there are no obvious deformities.

Your pups will get a DHLPP shot and a basic dewormer (nemex or strongid are the most popular) They will give it last as a treat for going through their visit (My vets do anyway) Nemex is very sweet tasting.

I wouldn't think there is a reason for a fecal test yet. See if the basic dewormer gets everything first. There is no reason for a Heartworm test so don't get snookered into that cost. They are not old enough to have HW yet. They will need to be put on preventative before they are six months.

Talk to the vet about spay and neuter. I would not do it till the second round of shots and be sure to hold the puppies while you are at the vet do not let them on the floor or counter and clean any area with their cleaners before you place them on an examination table. Sick pets go to the vet and you can get diseases from there easier than at home.

You should be prepared for at least $100.00 for all of this. And that would be a cheap rate for both pups but often you won't have to pay two office visits when they are litter mates. I take momma nad babies in after birth and its just one office visit.

You bought 8 wk old puppies that have never been to a vet? You should have gotten a vet reference from the so called "breeder" before you bought them. then you would've known they'd never been seen.

As for the papers..... if you are referring to AKC papers, and you didn't get them when you picked the puppies up.... good luck. She should have had the papers long before they were ready to go at 8 wks, IF THEY ARE ACTUALLY FROM AKC PARENTS. Keeping after her for the paper constantly is about the only thing you can do.

Look up Puppy Lemon Law (does not apply in some states)

contact the county animal control and make a complaint for the condition the dogs were in and any other thing you can think of she is guilty of. Make a complaint to the better business bureau. Contact the AKC and complain to them.

I oftentimes distract him with a manage and stroll out hile he's busy, yet he's often crying as quickly as I get decrease back. i've got study quite a few issues to help handle this situation. you ought to purchase a kong toy, fill it with a peanut butter/manage combination, stop it up with peanut butter and freeze it in one day. provide the toy to him once you go away and that would shop him enormously busy on an identical time as he waits for you to come back domicile. additionally, you could attempt socializing him to his pen section in case you're domicile. enable him detect the pen with you interior or, or in basic terms exterior it with the door open. For those explorations, he could continuously be loose to go away the pen if he desires to. After a on an identical time as, you could enable him play interior the pen with the door close and you exterior the pen, on an identical time as you paintings or watch television close by. attempt to get him interior the pen in case you're domicile a minimum of as quickly as, so he learns that the pen is a secure place to be and he would not equate it with being left on my own. you have the skill to finally socialize him nicely sufficient to the pen that he's now no longer terrified of it. he's probably pooping in his pen by using fact he should be enable loose and he has no other way of relieving himself. in basic terms sparkling it up and not utilizing a fuss. do no longer punish him for it, by using fact he won't undergo in suggestions what he did and he won't understand what the super deal is. He could take to hiding while he desires to bypass poop by using fact he's nervous of being punished. He may additionally think of you're encouraging it in case you get all excited approximately it. once you would be long previous for ten hours at a time and no one would be domicile, which you should to look into asking a chum again enable him out and play with him for a speedy on an identical time as for the duration of the day, or hiring a puppy sitting provider for the days you're working. good luck!
