Would a cat be still long enough to whisper anything?
Sorry, couldn't resist!
I believe there is, however, I just do not remember where I have seen him, excuse me, I think it was a HER! This lady "whispers" to big cats, ones that have been rescued from cruel environments and calms them to be quite sociable animals. Note I said calms, she may have another word for it. The point is that I purposely avoided using the word "tames". These are wild critters and quite capable of eating you as their mood dictates. So anyone who works with large cats (or any other wild animal) will tell you. She comes in and calms these animals so the handlers can do medical procedures on them with minimal stress or upset or danger to man or beast. I was absolutely amazing to watch. She would walk right up to these ferocious beasts (after working with them of course).

Not with the high profiles resulting from the TV series and movie on horse whisperers and Cesar Milan's TV series on the National Geographic channel.

There are people (mostly women) who work on cat behavior problems on a professional basis. At www.littlebigcat.com Dr. Jean Hovfe and her partner, Jackson Galaxy do consultations on cat behavior problems. Animal communicators are consulted about cat behavior problems too.

No. Cats have personalities like people. They will respond to you more like a child than a pet. There is not reason to "whisper" to them...you simply train them. If you don't want them scratching the sofa, you squirt them with the water bottle, etc. They have LONG memories and are very stubborn. They are also VERY loving but they do not love unconditionally. You must treat them well and earn their love and respect.

My advice to cat owners - if you don't want your cats "breaking the rules," then just have fewer rules.
