Could be fatty tumors and need to be removed.

well, i think the best thing to do is take him to the vet. I have a 14 year old female lab. She was a little overweight her whole life.. but not fat or unable to move. She had several of those "lumps" on her too, mostly along the front legs and chest/belly area. As long as they move freely when you push them to the side, they should be fine. if they are real hard, fixed under the skin, or seem painful is when they are of concern. The vet told us there is no reason to remove them if they weren't bothering her. And the extra "fat" she had came in helpful when she got older and wasn't eating as well. She is now almost 15 years old and very skinny. I couldn't imagine if she didn't have any fat to start with.. she'd be all bones!

if you were over weight and had fat lumps would you be asking people on yahoo answers or going to the doctor>? get your dog to the vet. Get your dog on a diet reccomended from the vet. You are responsable for the dog. You took on the life and you have to make sure it is the best life possible

The lumps should definitely be checked out--it could just be doggy cellulite, but it could also be cancer. Also, you need to put your dog on a diet and excercise him more. Being overweight is bad for any dog, but especially for large dogs like labs because it makes them more prone to hip dysplasia and other joint problems. It will save you expensive vet visits down the road to keep your dog healthy now.

Ah, fatty tumors. Your vet should do biopsies (sp?) on them to make sure there are no weird cells present. My dog just had one removed. She had the tumor when I adopted her and after tests once a month, it turned bad. It had turned into a Level 1 cell mass.

Your vet may reccomend getting rid of the tumor just to play it on the safe side. I would!

If the lab is a girl, she might be pregnent, if it is a boy, then you might want to take him to the vet, actually, you should probably take them to the vet if it's a boy or girl, just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps!

Are you sure they are fat lumps & not cysts or tumors? Being overweight isn't good for an animal, just as it's not good for a human.

You should take the dog to the vet, to make sure of what it is. It could be an absess or tumor. And are you sure it's a boy? It could be a girl and be pregnant.

Labs get those. I would still check with a vet to make sure they are not cancer. Labs are also notoriously overweight. No matter how much he/she begs try to limit his food intake. It's better for him/her.

cyst probably. My dog has four and the vet said leave them alone if the dog leaves them alone. I wanted to take them off but don't want to create more issues with infection...

sadly i agree with turd ferguson. you chose this responsibility so take the pup to the vet to rule out tumors and then get him in shape. limit food and start exercising.
