do fish sleep and if they do how can you tell

"rest", and we might even call their behavior "sleep", though it is probably
different than "sleep" in most land
animals.

fish will lay on the side of the tak at the bottom looking like they are dead or sick with little to no movement they have no eye lids so they eyes do not shut thats when they are sleep or resting my fish does this offten

Yes, they just don't have eyelids to shut. They'll even have nightmares. (One fish will be resting at the bottom of the tank, then, all of a sudden, dart across the tank or hit the tank lid, and swim there breathing heavily.)

Maybe it dreamed it was being chased by a shark.

yes because i looked it up on the internet and sometimes you can see there eyes shut
