We forgot to give our dog his December heartworm pill. I thought my husband did it, he thought I did it...we need to work on our communication.

But will my dog be okay? He seems the same as usual, but I didn't think you could see heartworm symptoms until they're really bad.

We live in Illinois...it's been between 30-50 degrees all month.

I have a 6 year old male cat. He is a great pet except that he has completely destroyed a sofa and love seat. I have tried using sprays, but he ignores them. I have placed different types of scratching posts by the furniture and sprayed with liquid catnip to no avail. The biggest problem is his latest habit, which is that he uses the carpet. Problem is that he uses a different spot all the time. I am finding small pieces of torn up carpet everywhere. He ususally digs in after he wakes up. Trimming his nails doesn't seem to help because he does it more to sharpen them back up. HELP!!!!

I have to express my dog's anal glands every few weeks (and bathe him because of it, which I hate doing so frequently). Otherwise, he'll scoot his butt on the floor of leave a nasty anal gland mess on the carpet.

I was reading past questions about this, and someone mentioned that people can rupture their dog's anal glands while expressing them, and that it's a bad thing.

How do I know if I've ruptured my dog's anal glands? What method for expressing the glands is best to make sure I don't do this?

I am having problem with my aquarium and the pet store is NO help. I moved to another area where the tap water isn't great. I think this and a few new friends led to ich in my tank. I am in the process of medicating, and some of the fish seem better, but my large plecosomas(bottom feeder) has white spots all over him. How do I help him and what can I do about water quality with out over chem-ing my tank. Can I get the water from elsewhere??

My Cat seems a bit dirty and greasy, and I feel that he needs a wash. I wash thinking of using a wet Flannel to get him wet and them use some Shampoo and Conditioner on his coat, and then wash it off with the wet Flannel again.

Is this a good idea? And also when applying the Shampoo and Conditioner will I need to use a pet friendly product or do you think that the one I use will be okay, as im not really prepared to buy a "Pet-Friendly" one.

Thanks

I give my cat Laxatone as an anti-hairball treatment. He does not like it at all. So, I have to rub it on his paws and then he licks it off. The other day I spilled a little olive oil and he purred and lapped it up so quickly. The Laxatone is primarily mineral oil, so I was wondering if another oil (specifically, olive oil) would be okay. Does anyone know?

I've got a Siberian Wolf/Husky that's apparently a second generation. My friend is a vet and thinks that this dog is more of a wolf but with just a few Husky traits.

I think that's so cool! But is it safe? I mean (Sabre) my Wolf/Husky is really stand-off-ish with everyone except me. To tell the truth I don't have a big issue about my wolf/husky being so like a wolf, it's just I'm sure I heard that it's illegal for an dog to have a certain amount of wolf in it?

Me and Sabre go for long walks everyday and Sabre seems very healthy.

I know...all birds have different temperaments, and it depends on how they are raised, how much time you spend with them.

But in general, do lovebirds bite???? Do you know from experience?

We are home visiting my parents for Christmas. We brought our Puggle home with us and my mom's Jack Russell is very agressive towards her. Joey (the jack russell) is like this with all dogs. He was like this towards my sister's basset hound but eventually he accepted her and now they are friends. Is there anything I can do to accelerate the process and have him accept our Puggle and be friendly towards her?

My sister's cat has blood in his stool. It is bright red, NOT dark like tar. She is concerned and called her Vet but there is evidently a rush to get animals in before Christmas because they said they had absolutely NO openings. She was advised to take him to the animal hospital which is quite a distance. She intends to take him but can not go until this evening. She is very sad and worried. Does anyone know what causes red blood in a cat's stool? She said he is acting quite normal but said his eyes look sick. If there is anything she can do to comfort her cat please let us know. Thanks and God bless!

I just bought new furniture and my cat has a slight problem with vomiting from time to time. I'd like to preserve the new furniture as long as possible so while I'm at work, I'd like to prevent him from entering the living room. I tried using a shower curtain but, of course, he shredded right through that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When I go out of town and come back home, he talks to me alot then lays on his back and stretches out. When I come home from wherever I am going, he is waiting, sitting in front of the door, he may even be waking up from his sleep cuz he blinks his eyes alot. Is this normal??? Also he will just run up and bite my leg out of nowhere!!! Then he likes to sleep with me and put his face under my chin

I got my dog from the SPCA in august and she was already 6 years old...It's very obvious that she came from a home where she was abused because she's very nervous around my husband, even when he tries to play with her...and, when she does something bad, all you have to do it yell at her and she pees...last night, she chewed up some presents under the tree while we were out...she only does bad things when we're out...my husband wanted to lock her in the laundry room in the dark all night by herself, but i couldn't do it...I feel that because she came from a shelter and she was abused, that you have to punish her in a different way...i just don't know how...please help me...it's really causing problems with my husband and i because he doesn't understand...
