The brown Is considered red. With the two different colors You would probably have some of each out of your litter. I breed two black/tan and ended up with all the same except for one red one. That red had to have come from the grandparents. They all would be beautiful dogs. If you're thinking one dog would be mixed colors like red and black that wouldn't happen.

I've had several Doberman's over the years, and can tell you it depends on dominant and recessive genes. You can breed a Red Doberman with a Black and Tan and still get all Black and Tans, or any mixture there of.
My last two Dobies came from the same litter of 12. In that litter there were 5 Black and Tans, 4 Reds, 2 Blues, and 1 Fawn.
Both of the parents were Black and Tans, but the mother was known to throw other colors in her previous litters.
So unless you know the gene line, or previous history of the colors thrown by the parents, you can't really predict.
Happy Holidays!

That depends on if the black carries the red gene or not. If the black is a dominant black, you will more than likely get all blacks with a very slim chance of reds. If the black carries the red gene, you can get blacks and reds.

I am fully aware that 2 black/rust parents can throw reds. But one or both must carry the red gene (which can be tested for via VetGen).

It depends on the genetics of the parents. If you don't remember Mendelian genetics from biology in high school, review that. I'm not 100% positive of the color genetics, but a red/rust (not brown) dobe with a black, they have different genomes and will give different color "gene" to each individual pup.

Don't breed your dogs. Get them both spayed or neutered. 5million dogs are destroyed every year in this country because no one wants them... I have three dobies i have rescued, all purebreds, one champion material.... tell you anything??????

It would depend on what genes the parents carry.
