I live in a 1000 sq. ft. house. I am at work about 40 hours a week. I would be able to walk my dog once a day. My kids (a teenager and one 18 yr. old) could groom the dog once a week. I have a relatively small backyard and need a dog that is not going to tear up the inside of my house. I am at work about 13 hours a day three days a week. I previously had a dog and it was far too high energy and tore up the house. It's OK for a dog to be energetic as long as it does not get destructive. With all of this information, would a pug be good for me?

So I have an adorable feral kitten, which we found Nov 22 and have been taming ever since. A week ago, we decided we needed to confine him, since we were not making a lot of progress. Since he has been confined, he has been really sweet. I can pick him up whenever, he does not hiss or scratch, etc. I pick him up several times a day and he purrs like crazy as long as I hold him. He is probably about 9 wks old now. He started trying to climb out of area we built for him, so I though I would try and take him out a little, but as soon as he got on the ground, he suddenly went back to being like he was before we confined him and it took me an hour to catch him and I got hissed at and scratched up.
How do we get him to stay tame outside the box? Should I let him out in a small room like the bathroom? How long will this take?

I have a black lab named Dakota. She was a rescue dog that we got from the Humane Society when she was about 8 months old.

She is now 7 years old, and ever since we've had her, she has had an odd fear of the kitchen in my home and any of the three bathrooms in my home.

If I go into the kitchen, she refuses to enter the kitchen, even if I try to offer her food.

The same goes for the bathroom...she will not go in no matter what.

One day, I got curious and picked her up and set her down in the middle of the kitchen. Much to my surprise, she cowered to the floor and *WOULD NOT MOVE* from the spot I had set her down. I left the kitchen for 5 minutes, and when I came back, she was still cowered down on the floor and had not moved an inch.

As soon as I picked her up and put her back outside the kitchen, she started acting normally again.

If she was abused as a pup, why would she continue to act this way now that she is no longer in the abusive home?

What is wrong with my baby? :*(

There's a few places that he could've got inside the walls. It's too cold for him outside so I know I still have a chance to get him to come out in the open. I was thinking of putting a few mice out in little boxes through out the house. That way when he becomes hungry he'll have to run up on the boxes of mice? The vibration of the mice should attract him. What other suggestions is there? This California King earned his name "Houdini". This isn't his first escape, but we usually catch him in the act. He did this one while in th middle of the night. Please feedback is needed.

I have a very big black lab/ great dane mix. He is just a teddy bear and I want him to be in the house... especially now that it is cold out. The problem is that he stinks sooo bad. I have bathed him so much and the vet gave us drops for his ears... Nothing seems to help.

What if there were an area on Yahoo Answers where feline lovers (or any animal lover) could list pets for adoption? In the past few weeks, I've discovered a wealth of true, genuine pet lovers and I wonder if any of them would be willing to adopt other animals that need homes? I, myself, have a few outside "strays" (that don't know they are strays!) that I would truly love to find homes for - safe, warm, indoor homes.... It is difficult in this cold, snowy, typically miserable Northeast Ohio winter weather and to find potential homes would be a true blessing. Thoughts?

If he doesnt stop I will have to give him back, because I have been really sick, usually pets dont bother me at all but with all the shedding (Handfuls at a time) it has affected me. I asked the vet if it would stop, he said maybe or maybe not, he is a long haired cocker spaniel/spitz, and they get nervous and shed alot. Does anyone know anything to keep a dog from shedding that much.
