I know it's "meant" to, but does it really? My GSD is 8 months old and he's started getting a bit too boystrous for my liking. He get's over excited and tries nipping us, and whereas he used to respond to my every command, he now sits there testing me before he does what I've asked of him. So I'm thinking neutering is the next step, but I want to make sure it will actually help before embarking on it this early, as I'd ideally like to wait until he's fully grown.

And yes, we do go to training, before anyone says it.

I've tried various air fresheners, and even leave the window open for most of the day, but nothing works. He has a crate in the living room, and I've removed all of the bedding because I thought it was that, but no, it's still there. I don't want to keep bathing him, cos it's not good for his natural oil's, but I can't take much more of this smell.

And before anyone says "get rid of the dog", I can't, my kid's love him, he's only 8 months and I got him for life! And before anyone says "get a cat"...I've got three. So needless to say, serious answer's only please.

Would you give a former street cat a home?
Would you give a former street cat a home?
I've recently set up a website aimed at getting some kitties that live on the street near my place into homes. It has live streaming video of the kitties needing homes at night, and my kitties in the day. For awhile I was getting a good response, but now it's quietened down, and I need to figure out how to get it happening again! Ideas?? It's for a good cause...I"m paying for the desexing, vaccinations, aids & FelV testing etc.... the site is http://www.kittiesinthehood.com
I have already adopted 8 myself, and really need help with the other 12!

She's about a year and half and she just loves to tear up cotton. Cotton balls, q-tips, tiolet paper, paper towels etc. She's always been this way. I dont know what to do and it is a very expensive habbit. She just tears it too shreds. Has any one gone through this problem? Or does anyone have any adivce? (without declawing her)

A lady from the humane society want to place my dogs in other homes. I love my dogs. They are my family. But these dogs are guard dogs (due to a prison break, in my area). I believe my dogs will bite people. I don't have the moneys to take them to a vet to put them to sleep. And I know the humane society will uthenize them. What law says, I can't uthenize them myself?

My cat was catheterized as treatment for FLUTD. However, he has not been passing any stools for about more than a day. Is it normal? What can I do to improve his bowel movements? He was given Pred syrup, Nutrivite syrup and Celexin by the vet.

He hasn't been drinking much and eating as well, but he puts his head near the water bowl and rests there. What does this mean? How can I encourage him to eat and drink?

I have a 7 month of St Bernard. He has bad hips AKA hip dysplasia(HD). His right is severe, his left is moderate/mild. Any tips, tricks, or any advice would be greatly appreciated. He doesnt show signs of pain at this point. He just favors one leg slightly when he walks and his hips "clack" together when we were training him to sit. When we would push on his hind end, you could feel and hear the bones "clack" when you pressed down. I am against surgery unless absolutely necessary.(they want to break the pelvis in several places) I am looking for anyone who has been through this recently. Anyone who may know anything about alternative medicine for animals. Acupuncture, herbs, suppliments, or therapy and where to get these things for animals. Any other suggestions will be a great help, no matter if its main stream or alternative. I'm just looking for all the options out there. Thank you.

To keep my spider moist is that fine, the bowl is also just perfect so he can't drown its very shallow. Its my first spider i have had and i really love him and don't want him to get depressed.

She's mainly a house cat, but we usually let her outside (which is fenced in) once a day, although we don't worry much because 95% of the time she stays on or near the porch.

Well tonight she was out during a rainstorm, and she came in the front door, which is very odd.

Then she curled up on my bed and slept for several hours.

Eventually I went to pet her, and she got extremely agitated. It's the area above her hind legs to her tail, and like I said, the slightest touch sends her into a fit.

Otherwise, she appears to be fine. She can walk without much of a problem, although she walks very slow.

I know the only logical thing to do is to take her to a vet, but should I be in a hurry to take her?. Also, isn't that an odd place for a cat to get injured? The only thing I can think of is if something hit her there, unless she tried to squeeze under the chain-link fence and got hurt, but there's no wounds that I can see.

So what, probably a bad bruise or broken bone?

I just read about these cats called Birman,"lovebugs in mittens" I've had cats all my life and never heard of them, but they sure have a sweet face and seem to be semi-furry. We have a Maine Coon who is furry and a love, plus a black and white tuxedo kitty who is a goof-off. I was just curious if anyone has one of these sweet kittens.

I've been wanting to have a cat for a very, very long time and finally decided to go ahead and adopt one. Because my hubby will be studying next year and finances will be tight, we've opted to have just one cat. I work and since bringing her home I've been feeling really guilty about leaving her alone at home during the day.

When I was growing up we always had one cat at a time but now everyone around me seems to be saying that I should have two. Am I being really cruel in just having one? If I can't have two cats should I get rid of the one that I have now and give her up to a multi-cat household?

I've been Googling like mad to find info or comment from working or studying couples or singlets who have a single cat but I've hardly come across anything. Is there *anyone* out there in the same boat as me? If so, how are your kitties handling things?
